What if we had another Pokémon fighting game (like Pokken, SSBU, etc...) but with the trainers instead of the Pokémon ?

Oh yes definitely, and he could have multiple fighting styles :
light and fast sword (Honedge)
two swords style (Doublade)
heavy and slow sword/shield (Aegislash)

I feel like Hugh would fit this archetype as well.

Drayden would be cool as a heavyweight
I can imagine Ghetsis playing a little like Crusader from DNF Duel
Byron with the shovel as a heavy swordie would be sick

Ooooh fun thread. Loving some of the ideas so far,

I'm currently brainstorming a personal roster, but here are some of my favorite personal ideas so far:

• Lt. Surge - feel like he'd have some fun animations + easy electric user
• Roxie - could play notes, and use her guitar to swing around
• Essentia - One of the first that came to mind for me. The enhanced superhuman abilities + shapeshifting via the suit could go a long way
• Lusamine - I particularly see some potential with her merged form with Nihilego
• Todd Snap - Taking photos, throwing pesterballs, using apples to lure pokemon. I'm imagining a play style where snapping quality photos (I'd imagine like timed during other's attacks, poses, Pokemon in frame etc.) gives you buffs.

That's exactly what I had in mind when I was making this thread

There's actually a surprising amount of characters who fit the swordfighter type :

• Spenser (staff)
• Roark (Undergound pickaxe/hammer)
• Kahili (golf club)
• Ramos (Scissors)
• Crispin/Anime Brock/any other cook (Frying pan)
• Cyllene (sword)

Really cool !
Similarly to Roxie, Piers could perform sound attacks (like Mike Kirby).

I also think Mina could play like the Inklings.
The Pokéstar Studio characters have potential too, there's a hero, a princess, another ninja, Brycen as the mecha cop, Sabrina as the magic queen...

Mr. Bonding would be an hilarious joke/secret character. He could use magical attacks by using the O-Powers.

Ash could easily be the iconic character with a zillion variants (with each variant having a distinct moveset)

Liko I picture playing similar to Zelda/Shiek

Roy I imagine as a fighter/martial artist anyway--so he'd be aerial/offense.
