Event Autumn 2023 One-shot Contest Discussion Thread

I got a burst of inspiration and am nearing a thousand words--is that too short, or do I need to write more?
I mean... honestly whatever feels like the completion of your story naturally should be the ending point right? Personally? 1000 words, although maybe a little on the shorter side, is enough to tell a story! But if you wanted to go more in-depth, and doing so fits the story's vibe in your opinion... I mean I guess I would at least try to do that LOL. No shame in not doing so though!

Agreed. If it’s enough to tell the story, then go for it.

Just don't sleep so long that you wake up on November 1st and miss the deadline.
You jest, but this is a remote possibility LOL

Well, even if I don't get my fic done in time, I'm at least excited to judge!! But I do think I want to get something done. Probably.

Making some good progress with my entry. I got a solid idea on how to finish it. I will say this, it will be VERY different from my entry for last year's contest (though I suppose an alien abduction is entirely different from doing something involving a festival celebrating and honoring the dead).
