Leak Repository Thread (WARNING: Huge spoilers!)

Hmm what do you think is the probability that Hurrhare and Raboot are the name of the same pokemon just different languages. Raboot for one language Hurrhare for a different language.

bunny is just the diminutive of rabbit. Bunny -> Rabbit -> Hare would make sense. Litten to Torracat also follows the same "problem"

Nope. Look it up. Type in Bunny and you get a Rabbit.

Litten - Kitten
Torracat - Adult Cat

While its the same thing, they aren't called the same depending on where you live, since everywhere, a baby cat is called a Kitten.

However, due to how credible the Dynamax rumor is, in order for both these Twitter leaks and the Dynamax rumor to be real the final starter evos have to be shown off this month, which I highly doubt.

Unlikely, since both seem to come from English speakers. Plus they're both very obviously English names.

While the odds are quite it is quite possible that they show off both the middle and final evolutions and then hint at the Gigantamax forms for the starters sort of treating the Gigantamax forms as the 4th evolution of the starters.

Someone pointed this out already but...
Buneary -> Lopunny
gg.

Bunny is a colloquial term for a rabbit.

So Bunny and Rabbit is the same animal, only called differently depending on where you are from. So i doubt Gamefreak is gonna be Scorbunny and then Raboot, since that might cause confusion.
Bunny and rabbit aren't really region-locked terms. Even if one is more common in an area than another, it's pretty unlikely that somebody's never heard either term. (Especially considering that "bunny rabbit" is a term people will use as well) And considering Raboot is evolving from Scorbunny, there's no reason to complain about confusion-it's the same animal, so why not make a name referring to the same animal?

In addition to Scuffyjay's examples, we also have:
  • Tirtouga, Torterra, and Turtwig, Pokemon based on tortoises/turtles with similar names. (A tortoise is a kind of turtle, and that didn't stop Game Freak from making Turtwig evolve into Torterra)
  • Maractus, Cacnea, and Caturne
  • Seel and Spheal
  • Politoad, Palpitoad, and Seismitoad
  • Genesect and Parasect
  • Heatran and Heatmor
  • Delcatty and Torracat
If we can have so many Pokemon with the names based on the same word, why not an evolution based on two words that mean the same thing?

I was also just wondering while reading this debate why no one had brought up that possibility yet.

In my opinion, it is entirely possible that they'd show both the middle and final stages for all the starters in one trailer. It's unlikely, as they've not done it before, but it would definitely re-hype people up that may have been dissuaded by the national dex cut. It would certainly be a nice distraction.

But also, inb4 none of this is shown tomorrow and we just get a couple normal Pokemon and a few characters like a gym leader or two. MAYBE this time they'll actually talk about Zacian and Zamazenta and reveal their types and some more lore a maybe show off Eternatus.

kitty is to kitten as bunny is to rabbit. that's what a diminutive is. also the root of kitten is literally "small cat" (taking the diminutive of cat from French). so whatever. there's no reasoning behind your argument anyways since there's plenty of cases of pokemon taking the same name (Froakie's line is all frog) and Pokemon "growing" up (Litten's line, Scorbunny's line i suppose).

Any night before "leaks" pop up yet? Who should we be looking out for rn on Twitter?

Right now we have two possible leaks. Both have said August 7th, though we don't know which one is real...If either of them are real.

The first rumor suggests that we will see...
-Seagulp, Booracuda, Antorch, and Impidimp
-Rivals Bede and Marnie
-Team Yell
-Gym Leader Opal
-Galarian variants
-New Eeveelutions.

Then there is the riddle leak, posted in the potential new dates thread. That one suggest we'll see...
-3 new Pokemon. A bug, a squirrel, and Impidimp
-Ice and Dark type gyms. Version exclusive.
-Tons of hidden areas.
-A Steel and Dragon type Eeveelution.
