Remember that random girl in the famous first dub Pokemon opening where it's basically in the scene after Team Rocket/Gary's part?

Now for people still new to this wondering, it's assumed she's just a random lass or the anime version of Leaf. (I figured her name is Green considering her manga counterpart, but yeah she's the main girl from FireRed/LeafGreen) But I doubt it's Leaf unless they just updated her hairstyle based on her recent artwork. Why would they just add a random girl in that scene and not a known female character instead (like a Nurse Joy or something) is still not known. My guess is that she was supposed to be part of the main cast but never really made it.

But now to the point.

Is it true that she can be seen sometimes in the background in the various episodes? (you know in an odd way like the pink snail from Blue's Clues, and Pandaman from One Piece)

No idea, but in the Japanese version of the opening the lyrics go something like this:

"For example, in fire, in water, in grass, in forests
in earth, in clouds, through that girl's skirt (eek!)"

I think that's the only reason she's there

Back then they didn't have a skirt wearing girl to use, so they put in a random girl in there.

Now that we have Dawn, it would make sense.

I wish the dub had never used that slight clip now. This question would never have come up otherwise, 'cos it's always been clear that it was merely showing what the lyrics were saying - and there was never anything more to it.

She probably wasn't paid enough for that little screentime. D:

Anyway my question is still not answered. So I assume I'm gonna see for myself looking through the screenshot galleries.

Nobody is prepared to undertake the monumental task of going through every single episode of the anime just to answer this question. If you want to do it yourself, go for it. You'll want 200 hours of spare time and a pen and paper.

This girl had some cameos in the series.

I call her Miniskirt, since she wears one. In English version Miniskirt class is named Lass.

I doubt we'll ever know who is this random girl. But it would be cool to see her full appearance in the anime.

I'm pretty sure they've used the model in the background of older episodes a few times, but it doesn't mean shes anyone special.

Hell, Oscar's done that AND got a speaking/battling role.

She's probably one of the random chicks used to fill in a crowd or something. Doesn't really count as a cameo.
