Ash's classmate Mallow tells him about a race where Pokémon work with Pokémon Trainers to carry pancakes to the goal. He gets really interested, and decides to participate together with Pikachu.

Plus, I don't think Ash's classmates only get once focus episode each, which is pretty much confirmed with this episode focusing on Mallow and SM014 focusing on Lillie.
