Warming oceans is a major danger to coral, since most coral species release their constituent algae above a certain temperature, killing the coral in the process, so this is somewhat reassuring, even if obviously it would be preferable to halt the rising temperatures in the first place.

The article mentions this once at the bottom, but ocean acidification is probably a much bigger concern, since that dissolves the coral's exoskeleton and kills them. People shouldn't rely on evolution to solve this problem, even if coral has adapted to temperature differences.
