What Might We Find: Route 119
  • Welcome to this episode of "What Might We Find". We will discuss Route 119. This Route is home to the Weather Institute, where we will be picking up Castform. What will our other Pokemon be?

    Route 119
    Gloom (40%)
    Linoone (40%)
    Other (20%)

In the next Log (24), we will reveal our next capture. Stay Tuned!

    Routes 123 & 119
Before I took on Route 119, I took on Route 123. There wasn't much here right now, except for a few battles and a Berry Farm. I cleared out the battles, collected all of the berries, then went back to my exploration of Route 119. It is a rainy Route in the overworld. I captured a Gloom that I named Eric. On Route 119, there was the Mimic Circle, and a bunch of other trainers. By the end of this Route (up to the Weather Institute), I was Level 46-47, with Armaldo at Level 42. There was also a healing house some point on the Route, which allowed me to push on to the Hoenn Weather Institute.

    Hoenn Weather Institute

I healed on a bed, then surveyed the area. I had seen a few Team Aqua members blocking a bridge, so it was clear that this was going to be a Team Aqua challenge. I took on all of the Team Aqua grunts and the Admin Shelly. At this point, my Team was Level 47, and Armaldo was Level 43. After I beat Team Aqua here, I was notified that Team Aqua was heading to Mt. Pyre. I collected a Castform that I named Sky, boxed it and got a few items. I decided to heal and rest here. In the next Log, we will continue Route 119, finding our way to Fortree City, explore it, then start checking out Route 120. Until the next time, we will see you!

What Might We Find: Route 120
  • Welcome to this episode of "What Might We Find". In this episode, we cover Route 120, the Route just east of Fortree City.

    Route 120
    Gloom (40%)
    Linoone (40%)
    Other (20%)

In the next Log (25), we will reveal our capture. Stay tuned!

    Route 119
Continuing from Hoenn Weather Institute, I took on May, easily beating her, and she left after giving me Fly, though I can't use it until I beat Fortree Gym. I continued exploring, battling trainers until I got to Fortree City.

    Fortree City

I did a few things here, trading Swirl the Spinda for Skitty. I also met with Aarune, who told me about the Guild. I also battled him, easily beating him. I saw Steven, who encouraged me to meet him on Route 120.

    Route 120

On Route 120, I battled a few trainers on my quest to find Steven. I also captured an Absol I named Soothesayer. Eventually, I found Steven, who gave me the Swampertite and talked to me about the Kecleon which have been invisible barriers throughout the area, giving me the Devon Scope to see them. I defeated the Keckleon on the bridge, then Steven left. I headed back to Fortree City, clearing out the other Keckleon. I then settled in the Pokemon Center for now. In the next Log, we will take on Winona for the next Gym Badge. Until the next time, we will see you!

    Welcome to Gym Analysis!
In this show, we will be discussing upcoming Gym Battles, looking at:

    • The Type of Pokemon used by the Gym Leader
    • The possible options for me, as the Trainer, to use, including the pros and cons of each option
In this sixth Episode, we are looking at the battle against Winona. Winona is a Flying Type Gym Leader. She will have 4 Pokemon, meaning that I will only be able to use 4 Pokemon against her. Let's look at my available options.

The Team I am going to run is going to be:
    Pikachu as the Lead
Swampert, Camerupt, & Armaldo are going to be back up for this fight

My Level Cap is going to be Level 48.

    Fortree City Gym
With all of my Team at Level 48, except for my Armaldo, who was Level 44, I decided to battle using Armaldo against the trainers. This brought Armaldo to Level 46, still shy of the rest of my squad. I decided to go back to Routes 119 & 120 to train.

    Route 119 & 120

I trained Armaldo up to Level 48. Once I was ready, I headed back to the Gym to take on Winona. The Gym puzzle was very tough with the swinging doors. Eventually, I got there, ready to face Winona.

    Vs. Winona
I turned on the Experience Share again once again (I turned it off to properly train Armaldo), then set my Team to take on Winona. She opened with Swellow (Level 33), and I opened with Pikachu (Level 48). One Thunderbolt took it out. Next came Altaria (Level 35), and because I was worried, I switched to Swampert (Level 48). One single Rock Slide took it out. Next came Pelipper (Level 33), and I sent out Pikachu to fight again. After being blocked by Protect, Pikachu fired off another Thunderbolt, taking it out. Finally was Skarmory (Level 33), and I brought out Camerupt, since I didn't know if Skarmory would have Sturdy. Turns out it did not, and one Lava Plume took it out.

Now with 6 Badges, I got the rest of my Team. As I left to do some more training on Route 120, my entire squad got to Level 49. In the next Log, we will explore Route 121 on the way to Lilycove. Until the next time, we will see you!

What Might We Find: Route 121
  • Welcome to this episode of "What Might We Find". In this episode, we discuss Route 121, the Route before Lilycove City. Route 121 also houses the Hoenn Safari Zone, but we are going to ignore that for now. What are our options for Route 121?

    Route 121
    Gloom (30%)
    Linoone (30%)
    Shuppet (30%)
    Other (10%)

In our next Log (27), we will reveal our capture. Stay Tuned!

    Route 121
I first went into the grass, catching a Shuppet that I named Zipper Doll. It was Level 28 when I first caught it, so I retreated for a while. Once I got Shuppet to a Banette (Level 37) and trained up to Level 41, I put Banette in the Box, then took out my Main Squad. I took on the trainers, and they all got to Level 50. There are 2 future areas. The first of these is the Safari Zone, which I decided to pass up for now. The next area I passed by was Route 122, which would eventually lead to Mt. Pyre, but I wanted to get to Lilycove City first so I had a good place to heal for training Banette. I want to get Banette to Level 50 before I go to the next Log.

    Lilycove City
I traveled into Lilycove City to heal and check out the city. While here, I saw some Team Aqua grunts, who told me that they were setting up an area just outside of Lilycove. Looks like I will have to beat their brains out soon. Heading toward the Lilycove Department Store, I bested May, then checked out the shopping, though I decided not to actually shop for a bit.

In the next Log, we will go onto Route 122 on the way to Mt. Pyre, and will also tackle Mt. Pyre. When we go to Mt. Pyre, I plan to do 3 Captures, those being Inside, Outside, & at the Summit. Until the next time, we will see you!

My Team (Notice I have 7 Team Members right now)
    Swampert
    Swellow
    Hariyama

What Might We Find: Route 122, Mt. Pyre, Hoenn Safari Zone, & New Mauville
  • Welcome to this episode of "What Might We Find". In this episode, we will cover Route 122 & Mt. Pyre, the Hoenn Safari Zone, & New Mauville.

    Route 122 & Mt. Pyre
Mt. Pyre is going to have 3 captures. This is divided into Inside Mt. Pyre, Outside Mt. Pyre, & the Summit of Mt. Pyre.
    Inside:
    Shuppet (65%)
    Duskull (35%)

    Outside:
    Meditite (40%)
    Shuppet (40%)
    Other (20%)

    Summit:
    Meditite (40%)
    Shuppet (40%)
    Other (20%)

    Safari Zone
It has 4 areas. Of these, Gloom and Doduo are most common with 30% among all areas.

    New Mauville
    Magnemite (50%)
    Voltorb (50%)

I will unveil the captures in the next Log (28). Stay Tuned!

    Route 122 & Mt. Pyre
Once I got Banette to Level 50, I put it in the box, got my Main Team, then headed on the water, Surfing to Mt. Pyre. In Mt. Pyre, I allowed myself to capture 3 encounters. The first was inside the area, where I caught a Duskull I named Mask. Battling a few trainers, I collected 2 Mega Stones, including one for my Banette. On the outside, I captured a Meditite I named Chi. Once I got to the Summit, I captured a Chimecho I named Chime. All during this time, I continued to battle trainers & Team Aqua members. At the end, I battled and defeated Admin Matt. Even though Team Aqua got away with the Blue Orb, I got the Red Orb. I left Mt. Pyre, heading to the Hoenn Safari Zone.

    Hoenn Safari Zone
In the Hoenn Safari Zone, it was hard to find my way, though I did catch a Doduo I named Multimind and a Psyduck I named Momo. I quickly left because this area needs a walkthrough to figure it out. I may be back soon.

    New Mauville
Because I wasn't sure if I could explore New Mauville, I headed there, and while I couldn't go beyond the opening, I was able to catch a Magnemite I named Grav. With no way to do anything here, I left.

    Slateport City to Lilycove City
I headed to Slateport City, where Team Aqua was supposed to head next. Captain Stern got his submarine taken by Team Aqua, and I got help to go back to Lilycove. In Lilycove City, I found my way to Team Aqua's Hideout. I used my Team to beat down all of the Team Aqua grunts and Admin Matt, yet Leader Archie got away. Once they were beaten here, I warped around, getting a Nugget & most importantly the Master Ball. My Main Team was now Level 53. I then took a little bit, going back to Routes 110, 117, & 118 to train Banette to Level 53. To help train Banette, I also gave Banette Dazzling Gleam for training balance and gave it the Mega Stone. Right now, my Team has 2 Megas so far.

In the next Log, we will:
    1. Explore the other side of Route 123
    2. Leave Lilycove City for, and explore, Route 124
    3. Go onto Route 125, including Shoal Cave
    4. Explore Routes 127 & 128

That is a LOT to do, but we will get it done.
Until the next time, we will see you!

    Route 123
Across the way from Mt. Pyre was Route 123. This is the other end of the Route, the other half being connected to Route 118. Here I battled many trainers. Back at Lilycove City, I captured a Wailmer I named Bounce. Then I continued exploring.

    Route 124 & Mossdeep City
This water Route is east of Lilycove City. I battled a few more trainers. I eventually found my way to Mossdeep City. I explored Mossdeep City for a bit. The Gym Battle awaits, but for now I continued my exploration of water Routes.

    Route 125 & Shoal Cave
I did some more exploration, eventually finding my way to Shoal Cave. In Shoal Cave, I captured a Spheal I named Otter. I did some exploration of the caves, then Escape Roped out. I finished doing some exploration of Route 125, settling back on Mossdeep City.

    Routes 127 & 128

South of Mossdeep City there was Route 127. On this Route, after a long time, we suffered another death, the 3rd Death of the Playthrough. Swellow died to a Tentacruel from a Swimmer, who had a few lucky shots and some confusion hits. This means I don't have a Flyer in my Team at this time. I used Swellow to Fly back to Mossdeep City, replacing Swellow with Banette.

3rd Death: Bluebird the Swellow (Level 55)

Continuing onto Route 128, I did a few more battles. At this point, my Team got to Level 56, which will be my Level Cap. I Surfed back to Mossdeep City, preparing to take on the Gym. In the next Log, we will take on the 7th Gym. Until the next time, we will see you!

    Gym Analysis #7
  • 425px-Omega_Ruby_Alpha_Sapphire_Liza_&_Tate.png
    Welcome to Gym Analysis!
In this show, we will be discussing upcoming Gym Battles, looking at:

    • The Type of Pokemon used by the Gym Leader
    • The possible options for me, as the Trainer, to use, including the pros and cons of each option
In this seventh Episode, we are looking at the battle against Tate & Liza, the only double battle Gym in any game. Tate & Liza are Psychic Type Gym Leaders. They will have 2 Pokemon, meaning that I will only be able to use 2 Pokemon against them. Let's look at my available options, which will be more complex, due to needing to be a complimentary duo.

    My Pokemon are:
Swampert, Hariyama, Pikachu, Camerupt, Armaldo, & Banette

    Steps to Determine:
    1. Eliminate Hariyama, since it is a Fighting Type.
    2. Eliminate Pikachu because it will not be effective against Solrock & Lunatone.
    3. Eliminate Swampert & Camerupt due to having moves that would damage each other.

This leaves Armaldo & Banette. Armaldo has Steel, Water, & Bug moves, while Banette has Ghost moves and Dazzling Gleam, which damages both opponents, an important element, especially if things get tricky.

    Mossdeep Gym
Going into the Gym, I brought Banette & Armaldo into the Gym to do the battles with the trainers, with Spheal (at this point, Sealeo), in my Team to gain experience. Between the two battlers, the duo got to Level 58, which brought me to raise the Level Cap to Level 58.

After I defeated the trainers, I left, giving Latias Fly so I could go back to Route 117 & 118 to train. Once I got the rest of my Main Squad to Level 58 and Sealeo to Level 40 (who will be my Dive user once I can), I reduced once again to Armaldo & Banette to take on Liza & Tate.

    Vs. Duo Liza & Tate
They opened with Solrock & Lunatone (Level 45) and I opened with Armaldo & Banette. I Mega Evolved Banette, then took them down in a simultaneous OHKO with Shadow Ball from Banette & X Scissor from Armaldo. 7 Badges down!

...And the World Begins to End...
Upon leaving the Gym, a beam of light comes out of the ocean, leading to earthquakes. Steven meets with me, gives me Dive, then says that the light came from Route 128. Luckily, I have explored there already, so it won't be that hard to get there. Sealeo will be my Dive user, which means I will have to leave one of my Team Members in the Box. I am still not sure what the member will be yet. In the next Log, we will head out to the Seafloor Cavern on Route 128. Until the next time, we will see you!

    My Plan Moving Forward
  • OMG! Thank you to the 2,000 Views I have had this Playthrough!

    Forest Ranger.jpg
Ok, so I know the next part of the Playthrough is The Seafloor Cavern on Route 128, but in order to do this part, you need a Pokemon who can Dive, which I will use Sealeo for. Sealeo is also going to be my planned Waterfall user.

Because of this, I am creating a Second Team that are going to be replacements for my Team as needed. This Team will be made up of Pokemon that were in my Active Team but I then retired use of as my Team grew.

    Second Team (Retired Crew)
    Beautifly-Level 18
    Mightyena-Level 28
Machoke (My future Strength user)-Level 38
    Crobat-Level 38
Latias (My current Fly user)-Level 30
    Sealeo-Level 41

    The Plan
My intention is to Fly around the Region, getting this Team eventually to match the Main Team at Level 58, then I will head off to the next part. The question is, what Pokemon in my Main Team will be boxed to make room for Sealeo/Walrein (Sealeo evolves at Level 44)? I am leaning toward it being Armaldo, since it has a 2x weakness to Water, which considering we are setting up for a few Water fights (Archie, Primal Kyogre, & Wallace), it makes the most sense to be dropped temporarily from this fight with Archie coming up (don't worry, it will be back on the Team after Primal Kyogre).

In the next Log, we will head to The Seafloor Cavern on Route 128. Until the next time, we will see you!

    Log #31-Seafloor Cavern
  • 284px-Omega_Ruby_Alpha_Sapphire_Archie.png
Ok, so this took me 3 Days to set up, so, I am glad to be typing again. Over the process of getting Sealeo, now Walrein, up to Level 58, I got my Retired Crew between the Levels of 43-52, then I got my Main Team, except Armaldo. Let's get started!

    Seafloor Cavern
Heading south from Mossdeep City, I eventually arrived onto Route 127, specifically the Underwater portion. Riding Walrein, I found my way to the Seafloor Cavern, where unfortunately, I had to give Hariyama Strength (the alternative would have been to travel by sea all the way back, since I didn't bring Latias for Fly).

After figuring out the puzzles, I got to the deepest part, where Archie was summoning Kyogre. I battled Archie, easily defeated him with a combination of Swampert & Pikachu, and he summoned Kyogre anyway.

    382Kyogre-Primal_XY_anime_2.png

With Kyogre now free, the torrential downpour has begun. After I talked to Maxie and Steven, they headed off to Sootopolis. With no way for me to Fly, I Surfed back to Mossdeep City, where I decided to get Latias and Fly to Route 117 to do some more training, getting my Main Team to Level 59.

In the next Log, we will go from Slateport to Pacifidlog to open all of those Routes up. Until the next time, we will see you!

    Sailing Southern Hoenn
From Mossdeep City, I sailed south to Route 128, with Kyogre still flooding the Region. From there, I sailed into the unknown, crossing through Routes 129, 130, & 131, coming across Sky Pillar, though it is inaccessible for now. Continuing onward, I arrived at Pacifidlog Town.

    Pacifidlog Town

I explored the town, listening to several stories. I also took the opportunity to heal. Continuing through there, I passed through Routes 132, 133, & 134. On Route 134, I found myself on an island I want to call Heartscale Island, where there were 3 Heartscales. Hearing a rumor that the Heartscales regenerate, I decided to rest on this small patch of land.

    My Team
At this point, my Team is Level 61. I had Armaldo in my Team at this point.
    Hariyama
    Pikachu
    Camerupt
    Armaldo
    Swampert
    Banette

    The Next Log
In the next Log, we are going to sail this same area, this time with Walrein, where we will explore the underwater parts of these Routes, doing a few battles there, a lot of those being Divers. Until the next time, we will see you!

    Underwater Travel
After I explored Routes 129, 130, 131, 132, 133, & 134, I finalized going back to Slateport City. From there, I repeated the same travel, placing Hariyama in the box and putting Walrein in the party. I explored all of the areas I was able to find that were Divable, getting members of my party to Level 62. I ended up stumbling into the area where I could access Sootopolis City. For some reason, it was very hard to find that opening, but I did eventually.

    Sootopolis City
I arrived in Sootopolis City, where I healed up. It took me a while to find the Pokemon Center, so I caught a Magikarp that would soon evolve to be a Gyarados, which I named Rage. It will eventually be my Waterfall user. Before I went to Cave of Origin, I flew to Fiery Path.
    218Slugma_OS_anime.png
    Fiery Path
Why am I going back to Fiery Path? I wanted to catch a Slugma that I named Hatcher since it has Flame Body. I will eventually be getting a Togepi Egg, and I want to hatch it easier, since it took a while to hatch the Wynaut Egg. Once I did that, I flew back to Sootopolis City.
    382Kyogre-Primal_XY_anime_2.png
    Cave of Origin, Sootopolis City
I put Hariyama back in my party, switching out Walrein. Once I ran into Kyogre (Level 45) and it became Primal Kyogre, I masterballed it immediately, naming it Primal. As I left, I got the Blue Orb for the Primal Reversion, I saw the two Team Leaders and Steven leave. Once I was able to move, I flew to Lavaridge Town.

    Lavaridge Town
In Lavaridge Town, I collected the Togepi Egg. In the next Log, we will go after Wallace for our 8th Badge, complete with a Togekiss. Until the next time, we will see you!

Ok, so I know the next Log (Log #34) was planned to be the Sootopolis Gym, but I decided to do a post about the Togepi Egg first.

    Lavaridge Town
In Lavaridge Town, I collected an Egg from an old lady in the town.

    Littleroot Town
In Littleroot Town, I got my Pokedex updated to the National Pokedex. This would allow me to properly record the Togepi when it hatched. With Latias, Slugma, and the Togepi Egg, I began to race around the Region.

    Mauville City
I was tasked with going to New Mauville by Wattson. I quickly ran through there, getting the items, and resetting the computer in the abandoned location. I checked in with Wattson, where I got Thunderbolt. I continued working to hatch the egg, eventually hatching it on the Cycling Road. I ended up with a Hustle Togepi, where I had been hoping for one with Serene Grace, giving it the name Angel.

    Around the Region
I flew back to Oldale Town, put Slugma and Latias in the box, then put my Main Team with me. I let Togepi soak up the Levels as I traveled. I had also given Togepi the Soothe Bell, allowing for a lot of Happiness to flood into Togepi. Togepi became a Togetic at Level 19. At this point, I wanted to find a Shiny Stone, eventually finding one on Route 121. I evolved my Togetic into a Togekiss, then used my Heart Scales (I have 7) to give Togekiss Aura Sphere.

    Final Moveset for Togekiss
    Fly
    Aura Sphere
    Shadow Ball
    Dazzling Gleam

Eventually, Togekiss got to Level 31, halfway to my Main Team, which is Level 62-63. It should not take too long to get Togekiss to the rest of the squad. In a few days, I will catch it up, and we will set up to our next post.

    My Planned Final Team
    Swampert
    Hariyama
    Pikachu
    Camerupt
    Banette
    Togekiss

    Next Log
In the next Log, we will take on Sootopolis Gym for our final Gym Badge.

In this eighth episode, we discuss Wallace, the final Gym Leader. Wallace is a Water Type Trainer. Wallace will have 5 Pokemon, though for this fight, I will have all 6 of my Pokemon in Team. Of his Team, he has 2 Main Threats, those being Whiscash & Milotic.

Pikachu is the obvious starter here, and could sweep most of his Team (Luvdisc, Sealeo, & Seaking), but who would I want to use as an alternate for Whiscash. Honestly, I am leaning toward Togekiss, since Togekiss is one of my most varied battlers. Depending on how Pikachu does against Luvdisc, Sealeo, & Seaking, Milotic might face down Pikachu.

Level Cap is going to be Level 63.

It took me a few days, but I finally got Togekiss to Level 63. I went after the Sootopolis Gym Trainers between Levels 46-48. There was a lot of Trainer grinding around Mauville City and Eastern Hoenn. Basically, if I found a trainer, I battled them. The Sootopolis Gym Trainers were not that hard to train against, giving me much experience. Once Togekiss matched the rest if the Team, I brought the rest of my Team to face Wallace. I absolutely HATED the ICE PUZZLES, but I eventually got to Wallace.

    VS Wallace
I started the battle with Pikachu against Luvdisc (Level 44). One Thunderbolt took it out. He immediately sent out Whiscash (Level 44), and I switched to Togekiss. Togekiss used two Dazzling Gleam attacks, and Whiscash used Waterfall. Whiscash fell shortly. Next came Milotic (Level 46). It took two Discharge attacks from Pikachu to take take out Milotic, who tried to use Hydro Pump but missed. Pikachu swept Sealeo & Seaking (Level 44) quickly. As a result, I won the last badge of Hoenn.

In the next Log, I want to go after the Regis before I go for the Victory Road. Until the next time, we will see you!
