So basically, this thread is retelling those times from when you were playing a Pokémon GO and you did something that made you look like an idiot, particularly the mistakes from early in the game.

I was actually powering up a Raticate for a while as it was my highest CP Pokemon and haven't figured out how difficult to get Stardust would become

Once I misclicked and used a charge TM on my Tyranitar. Gave it Iron tail instead of stone edge.

Definitely not alone Low hanging tree branches, the occasional lamp post or sign... but I've managed to become quite careful and aware of my surroundings while playing after all this time, it's nothing too bad.
