From all the discussion I can see the concept behind Fairy, and the utility of giving Steel and Poison something else to be SE against. Other details still look pretty sketchy to me (immune to Dragon? Ice weak to five elements and still resists only itself?).
Dragon does need to be rung in though, it's been the dominant typing for quite a while so something else to keep it in check is always nice.
As for Ice, it's GF's personal punching bag for typings.
I don't think Dragon's are powered up enough that a new types need to be completely immune to them. Dragons have the best stats because they are super effective against only one type - themselves. if their stats were lowered too much I'd consider them under powered, for lack of super effective damage. In my eyes, the Dragon type needs the high stats. If Dragons were super effective to more than themselves, then perhaps I'd agree they'd be a little overpowered.
Also, I'm slightly biased about Fairies being immune to Dragons, as the Dragon type is one of my all time favourites.
Love isn't really an emotion either. It's an ideal. Why not? They have evil type.I couldn't imagine a Love Type coming into the Pokemon world. I have my doubts that Game Freak would choose an emotion or feelings as a Pokemon Type. I'm still hoping we won't receive any new types, however, of the potential new types others have mentioned, I much prefer the Astral type, or the Fairy type, than the Love type.
Love is basically the same thing as "goodness".
Evil isn't an emotion. Goodness isn't really an emotion either. I'd find it more likely we'd be seeing an Astral type or Fairy type, or I at least hope that will be the case if a new type is announced.
and then half-ass logic that nobody's really gonna complain about:
- Dragon power treated as inferior to Fairies, in many artistic portrayal of Dragons are usually guardians/pets of Fairies
- Fairy represents light as opposed to darkness/evil, and wherever light reaches, darkness disappears
There is still no proof that Hiro is correct about Xerneas and Yveltal's types, and I find it hard to believe that the version mascots would be so asymmetrical (with Xerneas only have one type that is effective against Yveltal's alleged Dark type).
At they had one type each and none of them had a new type, so there was no glaring difference.Groudon and Kyogre, much?
Hiro just said that Xerneas' type was Fairy.Wasn't Xerneas rumored to have a second type that Yveltal would have an advantage over too?

I know what you meant. Hiro didn't mention a secondary type at all, even though he cited two types for Yveltal.I meant a secondary type in addition to Fairy. (like Grass or something)
I dunno, have you ever seen Sailor Moon? Sylveon's bit in the trailer seemed like a homage to Sailor Moon's transformation/attack sequences. And there's no better representative of the power of love than Sailor Moon.
As for the in-game attacks we've seen, they seem to be mostly attacks learnable by Eevee: Trump Card, Double Edge, possibly Last Resort, and one unidentified move. Given how coy they've been about the type thing, they're understandably using attacks that Sylveon can learn, but don't give any hints as to her type.

Yeah, no. I agree with the other points, but this one makes no sense.
- Fairy will be a new type weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it.
- Sylveon is Fairy-type. Some older Pokemon will be reclassified to Fairy, such as Mawile (Steel/Fairy).
Hm...that one seems like it should be reversed. Lightning strikes are know to burn patches of ground and set fire to trees.
No clue for that one, although it makes me wish it was either Grass=Electric or Electric>Grass.

Please tell me this is fake.

I'm almost sure it is, but I would really like it to be true. I hate the idea of having a new type, but having something IMMUNE to freaking Dragon?! Come on, that's awesome! I'm totally up for that.
