The Kalos Region Speculation and Discussion

What if those clouds are covering up islands meant for future events?

Not really, they can easily rename the Unova routes to connect em or at worst have routet 1U and route 1K signifying the region.

No, that's too confusing and unnecessary.
I don't really see how it's anymore confusing to name a route something along the lines of Route K01 and U01 is more confusing than 101 and 201 to indicate Hoenn and Sinnoh with the third digit indicating which region it belongs to other than combining letters and numbers.

Maybe the southwestern cluster, but not the others. The ocean around the clouds look a lot like a shoreline of an island.

Eh that's a stretch, and I didn't even think of those routes as a basis. But otherwise, yeah adding a letter in front of the numbers to alleviate any confusion is really not hard.

I don't know why you guys think that they'll be connected. The routes in Unova begin with 1, 2, 3. The routes in Kalos will begin with 1, 2, 3. France and New York are very faraway from each other. They won't rename the Unova routes or the Kalos routes or whatever. The clouds are probably new areas unlocked after the main story.

Except these places aren't France and New York. They're Kalos and Unova.

Being based on the locations doesn't make them the locations.

That said, I don't think they're connected.

^Well, they're based on France and New York, which are very far away from each other.

I doubt they're connected. The fact that they have the Route begin at 1 suggests to me that they are not near each other. Otherwise, I feel like they would have continued where Unova left off (if they were connected) or began with Route 101 if they were even somewhat near each other.

That still doesn't mean that Unova and Kalos have to be far away from each other.

Oh my god, did I just support the theory of visiting Unova in the post-game? Just to be clear, I'm strongly against it.

They're not connected, sure. But their locations could be like our world, across from each other with only the sea between em. Different continents and what not. Personally, Unova being in the game would be a letdown. Would it be nice, from a canonical point of view, giving the world a connected feel? Sure. But all the Unova pokemon iconography is enough for that.

@the "Unova is connected to Kalos" argument

I think they're trying to follow real world geography to a degree, so I don't think they'll connect Unova and Kalos. At best they're probably going to exaggerate real world geography and make it so the Pokemon equivalent of the Atlantic Ocean is smaller so they're closer together.

The ice mountain definitely looks suspicious, and the fact that the entrance is uncovered leads me to believe this is where the final showdown with Team Flare will take place. The other cloudy area is probably a post game section.

That was more in reference to renaming Unova's route numbers, they should avoid changing numbers (although they might need to change Johto's in a future game if they plan on expanding Kanto, but that's beside the point). They can probably do the K01/U01 system only if both regions are in the same game, that situation is only really confusing when both regions are being directly compared.

Yes. I noticed the fountain on the route from Santalune to Lumiose just before, and the train station seems to be the one in eastern Kalos, which suggests it mainly goes West (though I don't see how or where to...).

Maybe the train will act as a way to get from Coastal Kalos to Eastern Kalos before TM fly is obtainable in the story.

that is what i was thinking it seems like the only logical choice unless the station is located within lumiose city

Or it could be like the plane ride from Mistralton to Lentimas town in B2W2 due to carious roads being blocked as part of the story.
