The Fairy Type and Alterations to Type Chart

Is the Fairy-type OP?

Two. Theres also latias. and latios is not banned from metagame. Its OU, and he is allowed in battle subway.

Regardless. You mean to suggest they just didn't make Psychic resist Fairy because of Latios and Latias? 2 Pokemon out of almost 700? They're trying to balance more than just Ubers, OU, Latias, or Latios.

I don't understand your reasoning is all.

But there are only few dragons wich are really powerfull. They are dragonite, salamence, latios, latias, garchomp, haxorus, and the uber dragons. They made a entire new type because of 5 pokemons, so why wouldnt they change the type effectiveness because of 2?

But not every dragon type is too powerfull. Altaria is NU, druddigon, kingdra and flygon are UU, i think.

If I worked at Game Freak and were in charge of the Demos, I would give sylveon random IVs and EVs just to screw with you guys.

Flygon is only UU because they decided to make MegaFlygon and call it Garchomp. Kingdra is strong on rain teams. Altaria and Druddgion's mere existence don't make Dragon-types balanced. There were weak Psychic types in Gen 1 (Mr. Mime), but that doesn't mean it didn't need Dark and Steel to nerf it in Gen II.

But in gen I , 5 out of 16 OU pokemon were psychic, thats around 1/3! In gen V, 8 out of 50 OU pokemon are dragon, wich is around 1/6!

Yeah, i got that tier list from smogon. Also, i hope fairy does neutral damage in steel, it resists too many things.

Yeah. If it's supposed to be a counter, it NEEDS to resist (or be immune to) Dragon.

Not necessarily. The Fairy type could provide an offensive only counter to the Dragon type.
But we already have Ice for that, and it's not enough.

I believe it is enough. To be honest it, I believe wouldn't even matter whether Dragon type moves affect the Fairy type or not, as I doubt there's many people who would teach any Dragon Pokemon only Dragon type moves. A fairy runs into a Dragon, the Dragon will use it's most effective move, which will most likely be something the Fairy type is weak against, therefore it won't even matter, in the end.

It could have been worse, the Fairy type could have only been a defensive only counter to the Dragon type. The main thing is that the Fairy type ideals super effective damage.

But we don't know Fairy's weaknesses. Bets are on Poison and Steel, two types that Dragons don't have all that much access to (unlike Fire and Rock which handily beats down any Ice types who dare to even think about stepping in front of a Dragon).

I would do anything just to have GF make Ice good defensively! It really sucks that I can't have a pokemon of my favorite type in my team. ;___;

Do i have to go quoting Karen around here? there's nothing wrong with ice types in the team :) so long as you have counters to their counters available... which a competitive team would have anyhow. it would be nice to see ice get some balanicng though, along with poison and steel. but fairy attacks weak against ice? its plausible.... especially if the posion and steel weakness rumours are true.
