Fancy Pattern Vivillon event announced: Will be distributed after GTS reaches 100 mil

Re: Fancy Pattern Vivillon event announced: Will be distributed after GTS reaches 100

I'm guessing it will be the same level as the other event Vivillon, but a different ball, perhaps? Then again, I can't speak or read Japanese, so if anyone can confirm what level and ball, that would be awesome.

It's at level 12 inside a Cherish Ball with the following moves... Gust, Light Screen, Struggle Bug and Hold Hands. Just look here...

I'm not sure what the ability will be though. I already traded 39 Vivillon on the GTS so far today and I'm hoping to do more tonight. I must get this Vivillon!

Thanks for the confirmation. May I ask where did you find that screenshot?

On Nintendo Life. There's more screenshots if you'd like to see them on the site...

Fancy Pattern Vivillon To Be Distributed Following 100 Million Trades on Pokémon Global Trade Station - 3DS News @ Nintendo Life

Thanks for letting me know.

Re: Fancy Pattern Vivillon event announced: Will be distributed after GTS reaches 100

I would help, but everyone has outrageous demands for some of the most mundane stuff, like they want a Celebi for a damn Sentret.

That's either...
A) People doing a Cloned Pokemon trick, which requires the use of the real GTS, making outrageous requests to ensure that nobody trades for them and messes up their cloning or...
B) Little kids.

Or, I suppose, people without the time or willingness to hack/generate Pokemon themselves who are hoping some kind soulled hacker will do it for them.

It is pretty annoying when you want to get a specific Pokemon, though.

It has no hands?

I've never heard of that move before, and I can't find any information on it besides what's conveyed in this screenshot. What does it do? Do we even know what it does yet?

I just find it funny how you guys are so apathetic about it as if it's a move we've seen a million times.

I've never heard of that move before, and there's no data on it on Serebii or Bulbagarden. What does it do?

After some digging into the bowels of the Internet, I found an article that describes it (there are two other moves mentioned). Click here to read it.

Hopefully at least this one will be distributed over wifi unlike the Pokéball one..... also, I'm still missing the Sandstorm one and it seems to be impossible to obtain it from the GTS... they made it way too hard to collect them all and they're not even passing their patterns in breeding so some of the patterns are ridiculously rare

Re: Fancy Pattern Vivillon event announced: Will be distributed after GTS reaches 100

Agreed with Piplup, I hope it's not exclusive like the Poké Ball Pattern Vivillion D: I'm not a collector or anything, but I find the Fancy pattern to look quite nice. Heck, even Poké Ball Pattern is pretty cool.

Nintendo, stop shorting the USA. That's Europe's job to be cut out of events. :|

look my first joke

Really, it wouldn't be so bad if those particular forms weren't exclusive to regions where very few people actually play Pokemon. I mean, how many people do you think play Pokemon in the Middle East anyway?

Re: Fancy Pattern Vivillon event announced: Will be distributed after GTS reaches 100

What I think they should do is completely turn around the location/patterns for ORAS (yes, they can shove Vivillon somewhere in there) so all the currently rare pattern become much easier to obtain
And then starting from the next gen and up just let us breed the patterns similarly to how Deerling's forms are now breedable
I don't know how likely any of this is but that's the best I can hope for right now... I pretty much lost hopes for ever getting the Sandstorm pattern and that's sad cause it's the only one I'm missing (...well, of course now I'll miss the Pokéball too and we'll see how they'll go about distributing Fancy)

It wouldn't even be that bad if their rareness wasn't used against us. Seriously, I had to trade my Azelf to get a Monsoon Pattern, which is absurd, considering most other patterns can be easily obtained by trading another Vivillon. There's no way one Vivillon should be worth a Legendary Pookemon, while others are worth another Vivillon when they're the same damn Pokemon.

Re: Fancy Pattern Vivillon event announced: Will be distributed after GTS reaches 100

Woot, another pattern! I have a nice spot reserved for this one, right next to the other Vivillon patterns I have. :)

That Poké Ball pattern, on the other hand...

Anyway, off to the GTS!

That's why I don't bother to collect all of the patterns. The risk is not worth the reward.

I luckily managed to collect all the patterns and let me tell you it wasn't at all easy. You have to check the GTS constantly back and forth non-stop. It's extremely grueling because if your not quick the Vivillon you want will be taken in a matter of seconds (specifically the rarer ones like Monsoon). I'm of course referring to the people who put up a rare Vivillon pattern in return for a common Pokémon (like another Vivillon) those go like hotcakes, not the people asking for unreasonable trades, come on really? A Mew (which isn't even tradeable) for a Vivillon. If I had access to a rare pattern in my game I wouldn't be a jerk about it and make people give their Legendary Pokémon up. I have the Polar, Ocean and Savanna patterns readily available for trade if anyone ever needs any of those and I don't need anything special for them :)

Sadly, that's actually somewhat reasonable, rare forms are more valuable, therefore they're worth more. It's the fact that they're rare in the first place that makes it unfair, which is owed to the fact that they're distributed to regions that don't have a lot of Pokemon players. If they distributed them a bit more fairly, we wouldn't have this problem. Either that or make the different patterns breedable.

I do understand that, but at the end of the day, they've still got the same stats, same movesets, same shiny ratio, etc. The only thing is that their wings just happen to be a rarer pattern. I still disagree that I should have to trade a Legendary Pokemon just to get one. Maybe a fully evolved Pokemon, or some other hard-to-obtain Pokemon. But an Azelf for a sh*t Bug Pokemon that's no different than a Modern or Elegant Pattern in the long run? That's a bit much. It's like people asking for Legendaries for their White Flower Flabebe. It's rarer, yes, but it shouldn't be worth that much more that any Red or Yellow Flower Flabebe.

But I agree, the patterns should have been distributed better. I mean, the U.S. alone could have had over half of the patterns based on climate or topography.

Hold on, I heard that the patterns were breedable...so they aren't?

If you don't think it's worth it, don't trade it. That's beside the point. What I was saying is that they could get away with asking for better stuff because they have access to a pattern that the majority of the world does not. It's like if you were sitting on the world's only gold mine, naturally you'd have a monopoly on trading because if someone else wanted gold, they'd have to go through you to get it. Therefore you can ask for whatever you want in exchange. Flabebe isn't really the same scenario because everyone has access to all of its forms, you just need to look harder to find White or Orange.

Hold on, I heard that the patterns were breedable...so they aren't?

I don't think so. IIRC, it just evolves into whatever pattern is native to your region. So if your native pattern is Modern, and you receive a Monsoon pattern in a trade and breed it, the offspring will be Modern.

Also, if they were breedable, we shouldn't be having this problem, because by this point, the forms would reach everyone fairly quickly and none of them would be rare.

also, I'm still missing the Sandstorm one and it seems to be impossible to obtain it from the GTS... they made it way too hard to collect them all and they're not even passing their patterns in breeding so some of the patterns are ridiculously rare

Would you say Spiky Eared Pichu isn't valuable compared to other Pichu? What about shinies, which are literally no different from their counterparts except for body color? Rarity affects value, just because the species is worthless doesn't mean that rarer variations of them aren't.
