Generation VII confirmed!

Yeah. And Mega Ho-oh will be seven types to symbolise a rainbow.

That could work. But does it really need a Mega at this stage?

Garchomp didn't need a mega but got one anyway :p

I could see them doing mega/primal versions of every single legendary, eventually. Just give it 'till we're looking at another round of Kanto and Johto remakes in 10 years, lol!

I just wonder how they are going to do Mega-Arceus.

But Megas will probably take a back seat this generation. So we'll possibly see fewer Megas, like 3-6 Megas. This way they can add a few Megas each generation without adding every Mega of every possible Pokemon too quickly.

^Thought about this yesterday in the New Pokémon thread. Mega/Primal Arceus will have Protean, and it will actually change color to match the Type used.

Mega-Arceus will probably appear by the time of the Diamond and Pearl remakes. But this is way off-topic.

I wonder if we'll see Mega-Espeon for Sun and Mega-Umbreon for Moon.

I hope a return to simplicity means a small chance of cross generational evolutions existing again. I love sylveon, but I want actual new species out of currently excisting pokemon. I realize I'm in the minority here most likely.

Outside of Eevee itself, I take it? lol

I'm not sure what I'd take if we knew they were coming, to be honest. Of course, with that in mind, they can only be split evolutions of three-stage Pokémon or two-stage Pokémon without a third stage evolution, right?

Couln'dt primal reversion be a kyogre and groudon thing only? maybe we will have different types of evolution names for different gens and maybe different tools. Primal reversion, maybe Superior Form, High Interversion.

Primal Reversion uses orbs instead of stones. Who else has orbs attached to them? Dialga, Palkia and Giratina!

This probably explains why Rayquaza received a Mega instead of a Primal. I know about the Jade Orb in HeartGold and SoulSilver, but that was only located in those games. I haven't seen it anywhere in Generation 6.

New standard evolutions of past Pokémon would be refreshing. Quilfish, Luvdisc, Stunfisk, etc.

!!!

This gives me an idea...since water is the most common type and doesn't necessarily need many new species...I would be totally fine if they simply made evolutions for water pokemon from past generations that need a normal evolution rather than adding entire new lines of 2 or 3 water pokemon. Adding only a few +1 to current lines would help keep the water count down!

Oceans have the most abundant source of life on the planet. That's why there's so many water types. Unless the new region were to be completely landlocked or a total desert, I'm pretty sure we'll see several new species of water types.

I remember suggesting split evolutions for Dragonair and Haunter. Surskit would be nice as well, though for that I feel like they should then give Masquerain a Mega Evolution.

While I can't see these happening due to reasons, I'd love a Qwilfish evolution. The poor thing is underrated that I finally drew it a few days ago. I'm not sure on Luvdisc... Part of me feels like Alomomola also killed it.

A split evolution for Surskit, where it stays Bug/Water would also be nice.

I've always had the idea that the ocean/water was majority of the planet like ours or that the Water-types were a reference to it.

Perhaps instead of lowering the amount of Water-types they can make more Pokémon like Stunfisk? Water-dwelling Pokémon that aren't Water-types.

Unless this gen proves us wrong new evolutions for old pokemon is probably a thing of the past. Branching evolutions might still be an option though, even for pokemon with megas. After all we have mega slowbro but slowking is a branched evo without a mega.

Love this so much! Dragalge, Inkay, and Malamar were great additions to this crew like stunfisk! Maybe some type of Fairy/Poison Sea Anemone? Bright and colorful yet deceiving to be the trickster fairy type, and poison type because it is actually poisonous!
