Official Pre-Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield Speculation & Leaks thread

The problem with changing Kanto is that it is too iconic to be changed without mass complaints. People will complain if the starters aren't Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. People will complain if Team Rocket is not the villainous team again, and so on.

Considering that they've never remade a region before, we have no idea if people will complain or not. Pulling examples from other franchises is irrelevant. The point is that Pokémon has never done it so we don't know if it will cause an outrage or not. Speaking as someone who's very nostalgic for Gen 1 considering that it was the first time I played Pokémon, I would absolutely not be outraged or upset by significant changes to the region.

Some things I remember they said
-Pokémon switch is Gen 8((y))
-It will have 187 new pokemon
-Kanto and mabye johto will be revisitable, --mabye as dlc
-Evil team has a tech theme
-A tournament
- Gym leader boss rush

I'm still not entirely for Kanto... remake or a spiritual successor since with the Switch and all having a brand new game come with a new region for the Switch would ensure people running out to buy one if they haven't already. Unless they managed to promote the possible that would ensnare old and new players alike.

Also 187 that's... a bit too excessive for my liking. Maybe a 130-140 would be better, but we'll have to wait until it's unveiled.

It still won't sell as well as a new region game. They need to convince non Switch owners to buy a Switch, especially with Nintendo's goal to sell 20 million Switches by next year. What better way to get people to buy your system than a completely new region built with the Switch in mind?

People will buy whatever Game Freak bakes into Switch.
Literally whatever.

Then the problem becomes do we believe they can progress. The way it sounds, people honestly expect no less than the original Red and Blue ported to the Switch and that they are capable of nothing else.

Saturn guy was a fake. He also used some infos from piuk (like the meania region) after piuk. Also this is not the first time he removes his account: he will come back, telling that “he was hacked” or such, as usual. I asked him in private more infos and I can assure they are really not plausible. I have talked with @lavandula about him and we think he is fake

Also about saturnguy : one day he told me the region name was like Roxia. Then after the piuk rumor he resent me the same message with various rumors like 187 new mons etc and the region name changed into meania. He also told me: “sorry I have asked to my boss, the right region name is meania”..... come on xD

Ohhh but wouldn't it be a dream!

I'm on the side of the fence that always wants more and more Pokemon. I see every new additional as a welcoming to the family. So 187 new Pokemon? Sure, I'm game to catch 'em all.
But, too many Pokemon will result in several of them being nothing more than expies of Pokemon that already exist. New Pokemon feel more unique when there's less of them.

Everyone keeps stating remake remake remake.

But what if the games are a completely new story in Kanto? New gym leaders, starters, characters.

It would keep new fans happy, as they probably won't know the difference, and nostalgia fans will still be able to play through the first region with the same Pokemon. Maybe.

Change too much, and people will get upset. It's best that they keep some things familiar.

I agree, but I'm not one to care. If 187 Pokemon make it into a new game, then their designs had to be approved to even be included. I'm sure that there would be some "dex fillers", but overall, I'd think that most of the new Pokemon would be pretty good.

I mean, look at fan regions. Some artists have created an entire region, filled with their own gym leaders, elite four and tons of new Pokemon. Sure, it may take them a few years to complete their art collection of their fan works, but so does GF.
