Official Pre-Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield Speculation & Leaks thread

It wasn't done well in Movie 20 or USUM. In each case, we just got a bunch of random changes that didn't amount to much because the original story was overridden. In USUM's case, it was an excuse to keep most of the main story unchanged.

I have no idea what people like about Rainbow Rocket, either. The premise of villains accomplishing goals loses its appeal as soon as you defeat all of them within an hour.

3rd times the charm? lol I found it interesting, but mainly because I was curious as to how the worlds themselves would be like. Of course, a win by Maxie/Archie or Cyrus/Lysandre is either not very appealing or too apocalyptic to matter, but Giovanni's and Ghetsis could have been interesting. But yes, RR was just the same old incompetent Rocket but Skittle flavored.

Late to the party. Good effort though aside from the girl design's overlap.

Maybe, but I just want to take a break from the concept for a while. They'll most likely do it in Sinnoh and any other remakes, but these games should be sequels.

but Giovanni's and Ghetsis could have been interesting.
That's true, but the franchise just isn't supposed to stay dark for too long. That's why the fake leaks about Kanto having been destroyed amuse me.

Personally, on the subject of Rainbow Rocket, I'd love to see the worlds where Ghetsis or Giovanni won. I know that Pokemon isn't supposed to be that dark, but I think that both of those endings, Ghetsis' in particular, would make for a very interesting storyline. To me, I liked the idea of Rainbow Rocket because it implies that we have infinite possibilities for how each game could end up. It just seemed really cool to me that, in another universe, Ghetsis triumphed over the MC.

I'd personally love a game that explores one of those endings, and I hope that we get something to that effect in LGPE.

I'd much rather we didn't, and sincerely hope we never traverse the "where evil" won worlds or do more with Rainbow Rocket (sorry to people that enjoyed it. I did not).

Pack it up guys

You know what would make sense for the switch games? Is if the games take place in RR Giovanni's Kanto. IE the Kanto he now runs. Maybe the protag will start a rebellion of sorts and fight back Team Rocket to gain freedom of Kanto.

Nooo....after 11 months we're finally at that point when "next week" actually means that the announcement will be next week? Really? It was a funny game to play...god saves the community if it's not next week

P.s. you know it's gonna be on the 31st, right? Cause they want us in pain till the last day available.

I get why some people would like this, but no, it wouldn't make sense. This franchise is not about oppressive regimes and I can't imagine that Game Freak would ever find that appropriate for kids. Let's see what they said about BW:

There were a great many changes being made, but the goal of Pokémon Black/White was to keep the core the same. What made up the basics, then? Masuda and Sugimori both had a lot of trouble trying to pinpoint what exactly these basics were, in order to decide what to keep and what to change.

For Sugimori, Pokémon had always been somewhat based on reality. It was the story of a “boy’s summer” with the setting based on Japan. The boy wasn’t a superhero with special powers of any sort; he was just a boy collecting bugs in the summer, and as he continued to collect, he continued to grow.

But with the stage being set in a much larger scale — a region based off of New York as opposed to places in Japan — the creators had to make sure all the more that their feet were firmly set in reality. They didn’t want to make the character designs too fantasy-based, or the story too outlandish. Even when they created the new Pokémon, the design team constantly kept this in mind.

Sure, it's inaccurate to say that Pokemon stories are realistic or that the protagonists just collect Pokemon and train them, but that is the main goal.

Also, RR Giovanni fled his own world and was going to yet another one. They weren't setting up an exploration of his original world.

Uh,what?
God,people are really trying hard to deny the 151 only thing
-orginal leak
-let's go pikachu logo
-151 only
Those are the only things he posted.

the trip was real for the guy who did the original 151 leak

the imposter is the one that just posted the supposed switch menu artworks

Ok!! I didn't realize that there was an imposter version on monday also; just remembered that the Switch menu was considered to be fake.

I would personally be more excited about the original 151 Kanto Pokemon being revisited than something of all sorts of others mixed in. Kanto is a fairly isolated region; it makes sense. :) :)

You can just play FRLG if you only want the original 151.

Also how is Kanto an “isolated” region? There’s another region literally right next to it.

Well it doesn't have to be a full on tyranny, just make Team Rocket more rampant. Looting homes as payment, shaking down citizens for pokemon. Turning them up to 11 so to speak. And the law can't touch him. Only person that can beat him and his Mewtwo is you.
