Preview JN025: A Battle Festival Exploding With Life! VS Mega Lucario!!

If Ash does have a Lucario vs Lucario match with Korrina, that would be way too early for me.

Less then 5 episodes as a Riolu

I see potential for a Riolu vs Lucario battle

I'm surprised to see Key Stone speculation. Ash hasn't even mastered Dynamax/Gigantamax yet and, as of right now, Mega Evolution is absent from SwSh. It's more likely that Lucario will get a Gigantamax form this year.

There's a reason why they had him remove his Z-move bracelet. There is no need for more than one gimmick per series.

Honestly the megas where the only interesting thing. Z moves often were to op and gmax sounds like a great idea on paper but boring to watch. Megas however, you can mega evolve and still lose to a pikachu. I rather imagine a new mega than more gmax. However, new gmax forms are more probable.

SM featured multiple gimmicks to great effect. It was really cool seeing a native Kalos trainer like Ilima us Mega Evolution while the Alola natives used Z Moves, or when they clashed in Ash vs Misty. Ideally this series should be showing off all of these gimmicks as selling points for the individual regions. I'd absolutely love it if Ash pulled out his Z ring during one of his high-stakes battles later on.

And there's always the possibility that Mega Evolution/Z Moves will find their way into SwSh eventually.

And on top of that, we have Korrina using Mega Evolution in the episode so it’s not as though the concept isn’t coming up in this series. Plus for this being a series about traveling the world in order to conquer the Wold Championship, it’d be good for Ash to master as many different battle skills as he can.

A region-exclusive gimmick doesn't really pair well with a series that takes place primarily in Kanto all over the world. Granted, there's absolutely no need for every single battle/episode to feature a battle gimmick, but still, giving Ash access to Mega Evolution means he's got something to show off every now and then whenever he's battling outside of Galar.

The staff list of this episode, from Dephender of Serebii

Screenplay 冨岡淳広 (Atsuhiro Tomioka)
Storyboard 尼野浩正 (Hiromasa Amano)
Episode Director 村田尚樹 (Naoki Murata)
Animation Director 岡昭彦 (Akihiko Oka)
Animation Director 高橋優 (Yuh Takahashi)
Animation Director 蒼依ふたば (Futaba Aoi)

Tomioka is in charge of this episode. We can expect great stuff from him.

I'm probably the only one who never cares about these lists. Like other than Fujisaku, I don't think I've ever disliked any of the screenplay writers or animation directors so my thoughts on how good or bad an episode will be are hardly ever based on what these lists tell us.

Why must we wait longer for Sobble? I know it's coming because of that preview, but the anticipation is killing me. :(

It's better to give some development to Riolu before Ash catches something else. Also, Sobble seems to be part of a much bigger Galar Arc, which also apparently includes Ash vs Raihan (who is much stronger than Korrina).

On top of the issue that Gigantamaxing and Dynamaxing can ONLY be done in the Galar region.

But Ash having Mega Evolution makes up for the fact he never go to mega evolve any of his Pokemon.

Simply the producers in 6th generation were adamant that Ash not use a mega evolved Pokemon going to Gamefreak to even get Ash-Greninja. Since this series seems very lax and not as restricting now would be the perfect time to have Ash use mega evolution as a way to further his goal in becoming a Pokemon master. On top of that, we've never really seen Mega Gengar all that much, so having it mega evolve and Gigantamax would definitely make Gengar itself stand out more.

Sadly Dragonite will likely have nothing but hopefully it'll get some decent battles and it still could Dynamax at least, unless DLC adds a Dragonite Gigantamax for example.

There are some names that definitely are good indicators of how good an episode will be. For example, Atsuhiro Tomioka's episodes are practically guaranteed to have continuity to some degree, Masaaki Iwane's episodes feature fluid animation, Yūji Asada is an excellent storyboarder and director, and so forth.

We know Gengar is battling Korrina’s Lucario
I doubt Ash will get a mega stone for Gengar that was covered with Greninger
It will be a tough battle but Gengar has immunity to fighting type moves and normal type moves for that matter
So I wonder what Korrina will pull out of the bag as in moves

Lucario is one of those Pokemon who can learn lots of coverage moves.
Shadow Ball, Dark Pulse,Crunch,Shadow Claw...

Also we don't know Gengar abilty... It still could be levitate.

But please...We know that Pikachu is a deity slayer .... But let's give the spotlight to Gengar and Dragonite.
