Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Predictions/Speculation/Discussion Thread

The wait for SV news is really starting to become tiresome. It feels like they've been waiting a lot longer than usual for news in the last few years compared to XY and SuMo.

I mean XY and SM did have their big blowout reveals in May instead of June, whereas SwSh waited until June and SV looks like it's going to follow suit. But I wouldn't say it's much longer than usual. It's fairly typical that they have long info droughts between the announcement and that second batch of reveals. XY had about the same wait (although they did reveal Mega Mewtwo Y and Sylveon in between, but told us nothing about them so that really didn't satisfy the hunger for concrete news) and SM didn't actually show any gameplay (just a wireframe of Pikipek) so we knew even less about that game than XY, SwSh, and SV.

Honestly the only really bad wait was last year when we had to wait until August for details on BDSP and LA. But BDSP was a faithful remake with almost nothing to show and LA was releasing 2 months later than usual, so that's probably why we didn't get the news until 2 months later as well. I don't think we're going to have to wait that long for SV, I would say the news will come sometime in the next 2 weeks.

There is speculation about a new Eevee, but it's more to do with the anime, since it has established that Koharu wants to evolve hers but she's still indecisive after meeting all its current evolutions. It could mean nothing and just end in it not evolving or choosing one of the existing eeveelutions after all, though that would be a bit anticlimatic, but it would work well as a set-up for a reveal and promotion in the last few months of Journeys.

Coughs in Gigantamax.

Pretty sure it's going to end on "You're fine the way you are!" Message and it won't evolve.

It could end that way, of course. I hesitate to call it the most likely option only because it's somewhat tied to Koharu's development instead of being primarily an Eevee issue, and Koharu does have to pick a direction, something to move towards, which Eevee not evolving wouldn't represent that well, but it's certainly a likely option.

Eevee not evolving could still represent choosing her own path, doing things her own way, and just being herself. Rather than making any specific choice.

I honestly think if her Eevee doesn't evolve into something new, its gonna make those Chloe meets an Eeveelution episodes feel like such a waste. Go through all the Eeveelutions, then just go oh, Eevee doesn't need to evolve or it can simply Gigantamax (Which I queestion why cause Chloe isn't a fighter and Gen VIII is over.)

I think it might be better for it not to evolve. Basically "you can be yourself and do anything you want, you don't have to pick a path" or to recognize your own hidden talents. I know I don't watch the show but the few episodes I have watched were of Chloe's eevee, and the fact that it's talented in mimicking all of its evolutions is its unique trait. It seems like it'd be worse, story-wise, if they went "okay now give up what's special about you and your ability to do everything just so we can show off a new evolution." The focus of the show should really be on the story and sending a positive message, not soulless advertising.

I mean, Journeys kinda HAS felt like a soulless advertisement at times though. I mean especially for Pokemon Go. Its felt more like they were going off a checklist of things than anything. And I mean going through every Eeveelution has felt like they've just been checking them off a list in general. I mean even how the Galar starters were handled make it feel like it. They rushed through Sobble's development to get an Inteleon on the main cast ASAP because they know its popular, rather than developing a meaningful story.

XD And this is why I don't watch the anime anymore.

Didn't the first season of the anime do the same story in the space of a single episode? (Though personally I prefer the version from the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga aside from the cult).

I don't watch the anime anymore but if that Eevee does not evolve I want literally everyone who does watch it to shout in unison "OH HOW SHOCKING, THE EEVEE IS STAYIING JUST THE WAY IT IS".

Just like every other goddamn Eevee who can't decide what it wants to evolve into. Like, shit. At this point if an Eevee doesn't know what it wants to evolve into and finally does evolve into something, I'd find that much more surprising.

I guess the Pikachu thing in Season 1 was cool but the Pokemon staying in their original forms is just boring now. Like, woah. Series mascot doesn't change.

And what's worse with pikachu is that it stays the same but also the pikachu clones aren't allowed to evolve at all. Like come on, you're gonna force pikachu on us every game you could at least be kind to the clones and give them their own lines instead of making them literally just pikachu clones that don't even get the choice of if they want to evolve or not. ):<

shakes fist at ash's pikachu Boi this is your fault!
