Review DP128: Battle Pyramid! Shinji VS Jindai!!

I'm sticking by the theory of Reggie somehow being there when Brandon gets turned to stone and he screams father!

I second this wholeheartedly. And maybe fool-heartedly. But that would be the greatest way to burst the balloon.

This episode went like I expected it would. Shinji put up one heck of a fight, but loses to Jindai. The flashback to Reiji's battle was nice.

Did Reiji say why he visited Kissaki City? Since everyone seemed surprised to see the Battle Pyramid, I'm assuming he was just there to watch Shinji's battle at the Kissaki Gym.

So it's Jindai that suggests Satoshi and Shinji have a full battle. That is pretty cool, even if the fan theory of him being Shinji's father remains unresolved, it does seem that he has taken to mentoring Shinji why else would he suggest that he have a battle with Satoshi?

As I said, even if they're not related, Brandon still should know who Paul is since he knew Brock. And...he didn't ask where May and Max were. Interesting.
Well its obvious Brandon is allowed to break the 4th wall and know about the whole new girl thin. Obviously.

So here's something else. When DID Brandon catch the first two Regis? Because I'd been under the impression that he caught them near around the time Ash was hanging around, but here he's battling Reggie with RegiRock, and Paul's starter is still a Turtwig.

Hmm interestingly true. But all I care about is a picture of chibi Shinji.

Sarcastic a bit. But man it looks as if he is a bit younger. More naive if you will. He doesn't look so, so, angry, full of hatred. I think that this battle he had with Jindai is his turning point.

I missed the opportunity to screencap it, but Paul and Turtwig grew very angry after hearing Brandon talk Reggie down... and Paul was looking a bit more like the Paul we know in the present at that point. I think that's how it went, anyway.

Yep that sounds exactly how I pictured it. I call this battle the turning point for Paul and his attitude towards ash from now.

Well, the writers sure know how to have continuity references that they had been havin' since Veilstone City. Too bad, they killed the theory with Brandon and Paul. :p

I believe he DID capture Regirock and Registeel near each time Ash challenged him.
