They were German mercenary units from the late 15th century...and also a warrior/swordsmen class in the Etrian Odessey, Civilization and Total War franchises. We were having a discussion about them in my military history class recently, and I thought they were pretty cool for guys in puffy dresses

OMG that is the situation with here. Like, seriously, staying here for one year is considered 'damn long'. One time, one of the front employees was asking me if 'that cashier who's been here for REALLY long' was at work that day. They were referring to the one cashier who's been here for slightly over a year. She's not bossy or anything (not at all, she's strict but nice and helpful), but I get this feeling that everyone is kinda careful with her xD While the front desk workers hate it when we try to walk around their counter to access the fax machine (we have to take the long way, take the back entrance), no one says a word when she simply goes behind their counter to go the fax machine. (...it's helpful though, when we have to talk important stuff with the banquet office, I prefer to ask for her help, since they have this tendency to talk to us like lowly peasants whenever we try to ask them something, but she's an exception to that.) Honestly if our hotel overall wasn't so harsh to cashiers, I wouldn't mind staying here for a year. like really, even coffee shop part-time workers get like ten-minutes of rest every so and then, and get to go to the restroom without worrying but wtf, we don't even get to eat lunch due to iffy hours

Ah, so it's actually quite useful in combat. I remember there was a similar system in Valkyria Chronicles, where although you couldn't marry the characters, you could put them into the same squads based on their personalities and they would strengthen each other if they paired well together.

Eh, I gave up one of the two part-time jobs. The other was an office intern work at one of the offices in the college so I kept that one.
It's one thing I'm unsure of. Sure, your supervisors would do the best to make sure you graduate at the minimum since it also affects their lab's reputation, but really, research isn't something you are sure of >_<
Right, that's what I'm hoping for. Like, come on, one year in a stable job, so that I can show off to future positions that 'hey, I did well on something, it's not because I'm a bad worker, it's really because I just want a better salary and yours looked good, and I CAN do good' xD
