Honestly, I think it's more a matter of taste. Personally, I like them. The RPs they make are kinda fun in a dumb way, like watching bad horror films, and they're usually not good at fighting, so it;s not too hard to trounce them in a battle. Besides, RPers get better pretty fast, usually a month or two. It's also just as much the player's job to write well. The GM controls the scenario and usually the main antagonist, but the players are responsible for most of the main characters, as well as keeping it alive. The players are the Yin to the GMs Yang. The players sometimes derail the GMs plot, are usually most concerned with their avatars, their characters, break the rules occasionally, and thus represent Yin, which according to some interpretations, is chaos. The GM, on the other hand, is order, Yang, enforcing rules and trying to keep the plot coherent. Don'tcha think you can cut 'em a little slack? Most of them are like 10, from what I can tell.
If you mean someone who was a doctor before becoming a rememberer, any. Rememberers get their skills from the collective subconscious of humanity: They basically read the minds of people from the past, though it's hard to control. Class has very little to do with the people of the game world's interests: It's just what skills they can get the easiest. If you mean a medic type character, any would work, though they'd probably want to take either Technology(Medicine) or Physics(Healing).
