Characters and Plot

The quote from Pokebeach is reliable. They said: "you can expect to see an evil team revealed later" as confirmed by TheJWittz who attended the Q&A.
The question is if the other quote is reliable, too. The blog also says that "the battle environments and field scenes reflect time of day and weather", which I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere. The title of the entry is "The summary of the q&a they didn’t tweet about", so I do wonder if a few subtle details were missed.

I can only assume the reason the other quote mentions that the teams might be "something different" than the ones previously, is because of the way the response was given as: "you can expect to see a team something" which is rather vague compared to: "yes, there will be a villainous team" and could hint at something we aren't used to, while the latter does the opposite.

It seems to me that there is a lot of paraphrasing going around here. The previous quote you gave was "you can expect to see an evil team revealed later", which isn't really vague.

No it isn't vague, but I felt it is a bit more vague that a straight up "yes". Not saying I believe one way or the other is true, just what I interpreted about the quotes.

... Okay, but the point is, there's going to be a villainous team of some sort in some form in these games. That was the original question, right? Whether there'd be one or not?

Last I checked this thread wasn't limited to Druddigon's question. Whether or not the main villains are identified as a generic team does make a difference.

Character Dub Names

I haven't been on the forums in a long while, but with the new games coming up, I wanted to discuss something.

Do you hope that in Pokemon XY, the characters' English (and foreign) names will be more...normal sounding? I mean, here's some names from Gen 5:

Cheren
Cilan
Chili
Burgh
Fennel
Amanita
Grimsley
Shauntal
Alder
Colress
Benga

Most people would consider these to be unusual or weird sounding, names you'd rarely encounter in real life. Other names like Elesa, Skyla and Brycen are just odd deviations of more average names (Eliza, Skylar and Bryce). Compared to the earlier generations (Brock, Sabrina, Lance, Whitney, Chuck, Will, Wattson, Sidney, etc) it's rather jarring. It just bothers because those aren't real names.

Another thing is lack of wordplay in names like Amanita. It's basically the translation of her Japanese name; there's no reference to computers like the previous Storage System developers. There's also Fennel, which has no relationship to dreams or her Japanese name.

I'm sorry if I seem to be ranting about Gen 5. From what's been revealed so far, the names in Gen 6 seem to be going a more normal route, though we'll to wait for more characters.

(One final note, in the event we will get another Ice type specialist, can we please not give him/her a name with the word "ice" in it?)

So, since Pokebeach's source seems to be right again, I wonder if the Professor's name is going to be Patrice Sycamore and so there's only one? Professor Juniper was called Aurea Juniper on occassion, so it would be following on from that.

I would like Professor Platane to be more Laid back , Mischievous and irresponsible who like to mess with other people and flirt with girls .
That type of personality suit his character design .
Imagine , Ash often arguing with Professor Platane and getting angry whenever the Professor Platane mess with him !

A somewhat lazy, cool, genius, who is irresponsible, and likes to pull pranks, but can pull it off since he's the prof... and flirty as well... so moe... <3

I hope he actually appears and battles the bad guys himself, now that I'd like.

I hope he's a slightly toned-down Brock in terms of personality. He seems... laid back. Too laid back.

Eh. WPM's source mentioned two professors and I'm assuming that's the case. Why we need a professor that battles you after giving you Kanto mon and have the main prof. stuck in some lab, who doesn't even give you the dex is anyone's guess though. I said it elsewhere that two regions can't work if the main plays a great part in the story, but fuck me if a new prof. who gives you the kanto starters(as per the rumor)and battles you occasionally battles you DOESN'T sound like a great test situation to ship you off to Kanto.
As for the evil team, they seem cool. Corny, but its good to see proper gangsters again. Dunno how the plots gonna fit life and death into it though...

OMG - what if - WHAT IF we tag battle with him? What if we have a tag battle against Team Flair? We've teamed up with Steven in Emerald, Lance in HGSS, and Hugh/Cheren in B2W2 to fight the bad guys.

Teaming up with the prof would be awesome <3

I think maybe pokémon will again use a plot based on genetics and high technology, you can see a pokemon literally based on Mewtwo coming up, I bet it's genetically modified too.

Okay then I thought wrong, he is the main proffesor. Now I'm stumped. But with him in an office, what if you ARE in a boarding school. Seriously. Work with me on this one, and think. He gives you all dexes and pokemon to travel Kalos. He battles you along the way to see your progress. Twist of the century, he is rival 2!
Extra crazy bonus theory. After graduating by defeating the E4 you get a Kanto starter and go to Kanto for story part 2 in a Kanto that has changed from HGSS drastically.

Now THAT would be a plot twist. Though, I would be fine with traveling to any of the other regions, except maybe Unova.

I'm convinced Zakuro is a rock type leader now, but is he a guy or girl? I've seen a lot of people calling him a girl ._.
please be a guy...

Tbh, when I saw him I thought he was a guy, isn't that obvious? XD
