Ok, here is the deal: I have a shiny Venusaur but Giga Drain is an egg move so the Venusaur does not have it and Giga Drain is an important move for Mega Venusaur! Can it have use without Giga Drain? Current moveset is:

Sludge Bomb
Leech Seed
Energy Ball
Sleep Powder

You could, but Giga Drain is much better due to access to healing. And Shinies aren't really too big of a deal due to them just being a palette swap and nothing else.

I will second what TerraTF said. Healing is just a lot more valuable than a little BP and a 10% chance to lower SpDef. Not sure you want to have a wall with no recovery

Leech Seed still gives recovery.

Let me rephrase what he said, not sure you want a wall with unreliable recovery. Leech Seed is out the window when the opponent switches out.

It recovers 50% of your maximum HP with no weather, 66.6% in Sun, and 25% in any other weather. So it's as good or better than Recover unless you're in Hail, Rain, or Sand.

Yeah Giga Drain is great but if it's not available Synthesis will do the trick - and as recovery options go I would contend Synthesis really isn't any more situational than Giga Drain? Regardless, I think a lot of Mega Venusaurs are actually running both.

I run Synthesis over Sludge Bomb when I use MVenu, with the wether nerf it is pretty much reliable and not worthless like it was last gen.
