Pokémon Game Sound Library updates with music from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, and Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for free online streaming

The Pokémon Game Sound Library, which launched on Pokémon Day 2023, is receiving a special update for its first anniversary, with the addition of music from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, and Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. The Pokémon Game Sound Library allows fans to download music and musical scores from the Pokémon video game series at zero cost, for non-commercial personal use only.

The Pokémon Game Sound Library launched in 2023 with 45 separate tracks from the original first generation Pokémon games (released in Japan in 1996) available for download, with 6 of these tracks also having music scores available. In addition, users can also stream the tracks from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that were previously made available in the Pokémon DP Sound Library, and the service also has Brass band music scores for the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet main theme.

The Pokémon Game Sound Library is presently only available in Japan, and in a selection of countries where the Pokémon franchise is managed by The Pokémon Company (rather than The Pokémon Company International), such as Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. As of writing, the new songs are only available on the Japanese version of the Pokémon Game Sound Library, with the Asian English version of the site only including the music released during last year's launch. International fans won't be left high and dry however, with the Japanese Official Pokémon YouTube Channel having also updated today with long videos including all tracks from these two games that are available on the Pokémon Game Sound Library.

Music and scores downloaded from the Pokémon Game Sound Library are allowed to be used for purposes such as background music for video streaming, events, and performances, and educational usage, so long as no revenue or rewards are gained from its use. Several restrictions are placed on use however, with users prohibited from processing the music for use, including changing speed or tempo, applying effects, or sampling the music.
