References to the real world

RGBY had many references to the real world, though subsequent games had much fewer. So why did FRLG (specifically FR) add a bunch of real world references to the Pokédex which weren't present in the originals?

The FireRed PokéDex entries were from the originals, they were translated from the original, original games.

I looked on Bulbapedia and LG's entries were from the originals. FR's entries didn't match the previous ones.

No as in they were from the original Green, which hadn't been translated into English.
