"What is 'streaming'?" you ask? Streaming is when I used LiveStream.com to be showing off me working on an art work live for people to be seeing. Since many people ask me how it is that I work on stuff or what programs that I use, I thought that doing this would be a great way to be showing anyone and everyone that's interested in how I do things [digitally] while learning a few things, themselves, if they so desire.

I mainly created this to be showing off the five to ten minute quick draws that I'm doing, but since there are others out there that like my more serious work as well, I decided that there are going to be some times where I'm actually working one a larger project to show people more of what I do and just how serious I can get with it. XD

There are several ways that you'll know if I'm streaming something live or not. One of the ways is if you come here in the Artist's Alcove and see the title of this thread along with the word "STREAMING" in the title. There is also that little red icon at the top of this post -- that will be replaced with a green version of the icon when I am online. One just like it is in my blog sidebar. I also have a habit of updating my blog on here that I'm going ahead and streaming just so that people know and can be joining in the room and seeing me work. There are no set times that I do this. They are all random and will remain to be as such.

COMMISSIONS

Before you ask me for a drawing, I would like to make it very clear that you cannot request art/drawings from me. I am, however, open to commissions and normally charge $5 (USD) in pencil sketches or digital line art. $10 for flats and gradients and it goes up to $25 for cell shading/soft cell shading. An additional $15 will be pinned onto any commission if you ask for a background that's more complex than just a few fancy brushes. This is primarily because if and when I do backgrounds, they always tend to give me a hard time, and they frustrate me more than just about anything when I draw.

Traditional art aside from just pencil sketches are out of the question. I need new art supplies. Namely my Copic and Prisma markers and my Prisma coloured pencils. They're all either dried up or becoming too small to use efficiently. Though, truth be told, I'm more inclined to help out my family at the moment since we seem to be in a pinch than replenishing my art supplies. Digital mediums don't run out, and my family needs the money more than I do.

I'm open to PayPal and if one does want to commission me all you have to do is send me a Note and I'll give you my PayPal address.

I'm also adding Points onto here because Points help me with getting certain things and will more than likely be going to my role play group, #PokeFiends. I'm a little new to this points conversion thing, so I'm just going by estimates of how Points and US dollars match to one another to set a Points price on my commissions. I'm using the points page as a general reference for this. So anything on that that isn't listed for prices is an estimated amount. .___.

I also ask that you do not pay me UNTIL everything is clarified and settled so that way I know what I'm drawing, you know what I'm drawing and so we don't end up with mistakes that may involve one of the below items. However... once we do have something squared away and set in stone, please know that I will not start the commission until I am paid. This is to prevent people taking the art and never paying for it. That's something I'd like to keep myself safe from, because it pisses me off to no end to not get paid for something that was supposed to be bought. :\

Things I Will Not Do

1. Pairings I dislike. :\ Sorry, y'all. If you commission me to do something with a pairing that I really dislike, it probably will never get done. If I don't like a pairing, I don't like a pairing. I would appreciate it if people will respect that. So if you ask for a pairing you like but I don't, I'll let you know.

2. Furry Porn. I feel that this has to be highlighted upon for several reasons. The main one being that, yes, I do draw furry and anthromorphic characters. However... as much as a perv as I am, I am not willing to draw furry/anthro porn.

3. Certain Fetishes. I add this because I realize that there are actually quite a few fetishes that disgust me quite a bit. I mean, I know I'm fairly open minded, but.... The fetishes I will not draw are as follows: Futanari, Vore, Amputee, Watersports, High-Gore (i.e. opened stomach, intestines -- anything that involves seeing within the human body -- I like blood, just not organs. LOL)

4. Loli. Uhm... just because I actually see loli as being quite disgusting to me and it makes me feel like a weird pedo. D:

5. Pornographic Material for Minors. Yeah, I think this is self-explanatory. If you're under eighteen, no porn/hentai/yaoi/yuri for you.

Sketches or Lineart
$5 (+$1 per additional character)

Flats
$7 (+$2 per additional character)

Cell Shading
$10 (+$3 per additional character)

[Soft] Cell Shading
$15 (+$5 per additional character)

Painter-esque Illustrations
$15 (+$5 per additional character)

Chibi
$3 (+ $1 for any added characters)

EDIT AS OF MAY 25TH, 2010 @ 2:01 AM CST.

So... I want to play a game. Mainly because I feel that I'll never draw all the current four-hundred-ninety-three Pokémon that are out at the moment. Here's the thing that I'm going to be doing. I'm going to ask you, as a user, to just post a Pokémon for me to quick sketch in the span of five to ten minutes. You get to set the time limit. However, nothing less than five minutes, nothing more than ten. This is a challenge to myself as an artist and this is for fun -- and because you here at the Artist's Alcove don't give me much to work with in regards to moderation. :p

However... if you've stated a Pokémon that's been drawn before, I won't draw it. So if you've suggested a Pokémon but don't see it, that is the reason. Also... just to keep people from multi-suggesting me something, all members are restricted to suggesting one Pokémon a week. :p

Thanks a lot. I'm glad that you enjoyed them :)

You're an awesome artist, Shiay! Keep them up!

Edit: is the first digital image also part of your 'pedia page?

Thanks a lot, and I definitely plan to.

To answer your question; yes, it is the image that I have up on my Pedia page.

I always love looking at people's art here, and I've gotta say I think yours is the best

Thank you both, I'm glad that you both enjoyed looking at my art. I'm going to be having this updated real soon, I hope ^^

Wow, if this is an Art Dump, then the Showroom must be amazing!

Because it's where I'm going to be dumping my art. I don't really care about the preferences that others' have when calling things what they call them. It's pointless for me to have three threads up with different titles and having them all just be my art, in my honest opinion. So... with that in mind, and being weary to not getting infracted, I just will keep them all to one thread.

In the mean time. Enjoy something I finished today:

UBFJay167.png

Story behind it:

Stepping out for the second round of the UBF, Jaydin was a little upset that she had actually forgotten her goggles and some of her more warmer clothes for some of her disguises she had back at home. However, as she trudged through the snow with her more appropriate winter attire, she brought her arms around her to keep in heat as the cold still penetrated through her clothing choice. It didn't bug her as much since she actually grew up in Sinnoh and had pretty harsh winters in general, though this was still difficult, make no mistake.

As Jaydin's red scarf whipped behind her, Trépas hovered along by her side. The small, blue-eyed Gengar was not as affected by the weather as much his human was. As he looked at her, it pained him to see her fighting through this weather with no warmth -- and it pained him even more that he couldn't be helping her keep it since he knew he acted as a heat sink.

Jaydin's teeth started to chatter and she fell to her knees in the snow. Her eyes started to sting as tears started to brim them and immediately freeze in the harsh weather. How could she just give up like this...? She came here to have fun... and even that conversation she had with Emito when she actually thought about what was going to be going on in this competition. She said that she would prove to everyone that just because she has a certain type of Pokémon team in her party didn't mean that she couldn't get through this...

So why...?

Why...

"Gengar... Gen gar genga!" Trépas shouted, grabbing Jaydin by her sweater and tugging her back up forcefully. "Gen gen genga gengar!"

Blinking back the other tears that were coming forth, Jaydin looked to her life long friend and parted her lips slightly in slight awe and wonderment. She could never understand the Gengar in his Pokéspeak, but the two shared a bond... they had ever since they met in the Old Chateau almost twelve years ago. The two were inseperable -- that's why Jaydin never kept him in a Poké Ball. Though... the words he was getting across were right. Jaydin couldn't just give up... she couldn't just throw away all that she had said. She needed to go forwards and prove herself.

"You're right... Trépas... thank you," Jaydin said to him, smiling. Closing her eyes after that, she exhaled and then reeled over memories in her mind. Training with Morty had sprung to mind immediately. He was another reason that she needed to push herself. Jaydin wanted to uphold her part as a Ghost-type specialist... that way she could be in his ranks at least.

'Hypnosis doesn't only put Pokémon or people to sleep, Jaydin...'

What...?

'Hypnosis can also get people and Pokémon to do what they want them to be. It's a dangerous move... and I advise for you to use it with caution when you issue for your Trépas to be using the attack.'

"That's it!" Jaydin exclaimed, reaching out and hugging Trépas close to her. The Ghost-type didn't seem to really mind the attention, though he did point an arm out to be getting on with the show.

"Trépas, use Hypnosis!" Jaydin said to him, looking down with a grin. Her expression was merely met with the most confused look that the small Gengar could ever muster up. Jaydin just grinned wider and continued, "remember what Morty said, Tré. Hypnosis doesn't only put people and Pokémon to sleep. I want you to make me make it through this round. What kind of Ghost-type Specialist can I call myself if I can't use the moves that Ghost-types use to my personal advantage in times like this?"

Phasing through her arms and looking at her with a stern look, Trépas frowned. He was reluctant to be attacking his own human. Though he recognized that she had a stable point. It was the fact that Hypnosis usually makes it so that the person under it was like a zombie that concerned him.

But... if she said to do it....

Trépas' eyes glowed a lavender colour as he waved his hands out in front of him before his human. Soon, her own eyes dulled and had a bluish tint appear to them. As she looked around while bringing an arm up to her face, she looked to Trépas quizzically. Why didn't it feel as if she were in an 'out of it' state'? Was this what Hypnosis felt like being under?

No... couldn't have been... she had been under it before....

"Trépas... why didn't you do the attack?!" Jaydin almost shouted, her brow furrowing with slight aggitation.

'I did... I just made it so that you can control yourself until my assistance is needed...' came the response in Jaydin's mind. The brunette looked taken aback as she heard that -- the voice... the voice was as clear as if someone were right there talking to her in a normal tone instead of having to yell above these winds!

"Tré... was that... you?" Jaydin asked, looking to him.

'Indeed it was...' Trépas responded, hovering close besisde her.

"Wow, that's so amazing! I never knew I'd be able to communicate with you to where we both understand one another, but this... this is just truly--!"

'My human, I understand... but if you don't get a move on, others will find whatever it is you have to find before you do...' Trépas interjected, trying to get Jaydin's mind back on track.

Frowning for brief moment, Jaydin then nodded and then looked towards where she was headed. "Let's go, Trépas! If it gets worse later, I'll have Kaunis sent out for her Snow Cloak ability and then Revenant to ride atop of if I can't walk any further!"

With that, she started to charge through the blizzard, Trépas quickly following after so the Hypnosis bond didn't waver.

Just because I can update and don't feel like making a new thread:

I laughed way harder at the random Powerpuff girl in between all the complex art than I should've. Great stuff, as usual from you.

Well... I'm mostly self-taught with a lot of what I draw. ^^ I'm homeschooled, so I don't really have any other teachers besides myself and sometimes my parents. (My parents really only help me when they can since they all have jobs and can't really stay here to help me out. It's tough oTL)

Though looking at your drawing now, it reminds me much of how I used to draw when I was younger. I actually have a comparison sketch somewhere around here on my hard drive XD; *goes to dig it up for a moment*...

Err... well... kay... I couldn't find the picture I was looking for, but this one will do since it's gotta do with how I've improved on my own. owo

2004___2008_Timeline_of_GSG_by_Grif.jpg

Taking the time to improve can be frustrating, and there are a lot of times where you feel you just wanna give up on it. Though, it's not the best course of action. Trust me, I insult my art a lot, though I sit down, deal with my artistic problems and get to work on seeing what can be improved and doing so.

I also love using this thing here:

8436670_cb92d46987.jpg

Since they're designed to move how the human body is capable of, they're great to be using for anatomy practice. Other things that I've picked up are books on how to be shading for light sources and then a lot of how to draw manga/anime books.

It's what makes me able to draw stuff like this more correctly:

Trepas001.jpg

Though I don't copy peoples' styles much anymore, it never hurts to be starting off to be doing so. Imitation is a form of flattery is how a lot of artists start off most of the time, and from there, you can develop your own style that you can call your own. :3

From what you learn, you'll see the results over time. Also, it's good that you asked another artist about stuff. You should do so when you don't feel like your stuff isn't up to snuff. I do a lot when I'm on deviantART or in other art communities. Thanks to what a lot of people have told me, I've grown better.
