Yeah, of course Nintendo will end everyone of their world-famous series from Mario and Zelda to Pokémon and Metroid just for the hell of it. I'm getting effing sick of people speculating about this all the time. Do you think Nintendo's stupid or insane, people? Mario, Zelda and Metroid are all over twice as old franchises as Pokémon is and they're doing better than ever. There is no profit for Nintendo from ending any of their franchises, so they won't.

These kinds of threads are effing pathetic.

There is always that rumor that the series will end, but it never does. Pokemon is one of the biggest money makers with the games, the cards, the anime, and more. If they cut that off then they will cut off a ton of funds.
It's like saying Mario will end one day. It will never end. They will keep on milking that cow forever.

The latest interview for nintendos art direction says and I quote "This generation is not the last and there are many more to come."

These games are for the DS, it has been said that GF has been given 3DS stuff to use, so logic would say that they would be making at least one more game, for the 3DS.

Plus in the club-nintendo survey for HGSS, there were alot of question about whether old fans had returned to the series, what age it is appropriate for,how many people still like Pokemon etc. That leads me to believe they will start to expand their market,or are at least looking into it.

Absolutely nothing has indicated that Pokemon will ever end. And if it does happen to end, it'll be thirty to forty years into the future when people stop caring about it.

and of course, 2012.

Yeaaaaaah, but the only people who actually believe all that 2012 bullshit are mindless idiots. I mean the majority of the Pokémon fandom aren't like that.

Oh wait.

Pokemon makes Nintendo so much money, chances of this being the last Generation is about 0.000000001%. They're also definitely going to release Pokemon on 3DS eventually.

Rumour has it this topic will appear again for Gen V's third game and Gen VI.

My opinion on this ending is like that for .hack (which is just about to end now): I'd prefer to see them end it in style while people still like it rather than have it degrade down so far no one likes it anymore and having to end it out of not earning money.

They ended .hack 3 games too late (twice, in fact).

I said yes because its silly XD

But for me personally, it is the end of Pokemon. I'm not getting the games, and I'm done after this gen.

I'll be honest, until this news about the new games was announced a few months back, I was starting to consider that Gen 4 would be the last one. It seemed a good place to stop, I thought that the overall story had run its course, and had nicely come full circle with HGSS. But I was wrong, here we go again, it's time for a brand new region, brand new characters and brand new Pokemon. Just when I thought the series would have a dignified death, I was wrong, it's back, in fact, it never left. I think all this talk of a rebirth by Nintendo shows that the franchise is in trouble, experiencing some rough weather as it were. HGSS were a major success, but it seemed like they were pulling out all the stops to keep the series going, such as bringing back the fan favourite Johto, as well as making the god of all Pokemon, and it did have a lot of success, it worked. But now they've had to resort to a rebirth, Pokemon is one of the biggest selling franchises in the world, they will not let it go gracefully, they will hold onto it with everything they've got. So no, I don't think Gen 5 will be the last, even if it is a major flop they will still make a Gen 6 to try and carry it on, maybe with even more drastic measures to keep the series afloat. My personal opinion, Pokemon will go on for a lot longer. I think they will come up with new ideas, and Nintendo have a certain skill for taking big risks and them paying off. My example, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, was seen as a bit of a let down, very short compared to other games, and lots of stuff wasn't apreciated such as being at sea all the time, and the cartoon graphics. But Nintendo picked itself up, they came out with Twilight Princess which was also like a rebirth of Ocarina of Time (very similar), and now Zelda is back on form and it's still going strong and the new Zelda Wii game is out late this year.

However, my concern is with the anime, as I hope I've demonstrated above, I feel the games will continue for at least another 10 years, Gen 6 being almost certain in my opinion, but the anime does seem to be heading towards an end. The anime is no longer the giant craze it used to be, it doesn't pull in the audiences that it used to pull in, so much so the movies aren't even in the Cinema anymore (except Japan) they go straight to DVD release. There's a lot to hint the anime may be ending, it just isn't as big as it used to be. To conclude, Gen 5 the end of Pokemon franchise, no way, the end of the Pokemon anime, I don't think so, but perhaps.

I'm not so sure what to think (although I pressed the wrong vote button my accident saying that it won't:sweatlol:) When it ends, I might not care though... for now, the Gen V games, including whichever new Wii they come out with, will probably be the last games that I'll be getting.

so long as the japanese like the anime, it'll be around.

Ok, maybe it's the end of Ash then? Gen 5 could be a rebirth for the anime as well? Everyone's characters now seem fully developed and they do seem to be reaching a natural conclusion. With Ash having 2 fully evolved starters plus a Pseudo legendary, it looks much more possible that he could win the league, especially with the added focus to the Elite 4 and Champion, maybe he will get to face them if he wins? Also, Team Rocket seem to be coming to a sort of conclusion, they are no longer hell bent on catching Pikachu as much as they used to be, that now seems to be just what they do to fill the time in between contests. Jessie making it to the Grand Festival also poses questions, why would they have gone through all this effort to add in extra contests and storylines for her to gain all 5 ribbons for a quick defeat in the Grand Festival. Could she be set to go far? Perhaps even win? I doubt she will win (even though I'd love her to) but her character just doesn't seem to be as much villain as it used to be, more rival to Dawn now in fact, and if Dawn goes maybe she will to?

As far as the Anime goes, I'm still a fan of the original trio. Ash, Misty, Brock. End of story.

And that is your opinion. While I didn't like //GU nearly as much as //IMOQ, at least they have the sense to end it with //LINK rather than drag it out.

No way, no how is this going to be the end of Pokemon. I don't think we have anything to worry about, as Pokemon is a money machine for Nintendo. They would be crazy to give it up.

Well, they're definitely running out of names. That's for sure.

Seriously. What's left?
