(READ FIRST POST) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

As a held item, the Exp.Share was inherently "opt-in", you had to consciously equip it to gain the benefits. But in XY it's an "opt-out". And the way XY splits (multiplies?) experience across several Pokemon is far more generous than any other generation.

The one thing I do very much like about the XP system in XY, though, is catching a Pokemon rewards XP just the same as defeating it. Catching it is usually harder, why did it go unrewarded in previous generations?

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

Design wise in quality and quantity it pales in comparison to gen V. It was way too easy. I wanted to catch a bunch of stuff and wonder trade them but that made me way too over leveled. At first I thought it was fun and leaved it to spend on cloths but after it was over it felt empty.

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

The game is wonderful. A lot of visuals are well improved. I like the move animations too.
I thought that GameFreak focused too much on the visuals and not on the game depth itself.
I hate that there are too many Mega Evolutions. I wasn't a fan to begin with.
It felt like a huge gimmick. I have always hoped for proper evolutions for the Pokemons that could have had it.
The absence of a legendary trio aside from main legendaries was also very unfortunate.

But my biggest disappointment, the dull use of StreetPass. They could have done something
Way better.

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

The only complaints I have are:

1) The fact that you're unable to unequip the rollerblades and are forced to use the D-pad if you want to move normally. To me, the D-pad is located in a rather uncomfortable position and I much prefer to use the circle pad when I move a character/selecting commands etc (in any game). I have absolutely nothing against the rollerblades, but I'd like the option to turn them off so I can use the circle pad for normal walking/running.

2) Stereoscopic 3D absolutely destroying the frame rate during battles. I love using the 3D feature, but the frame rate drop really ruins my experience in battles so I unfortunately have it off all the time. It's disappointing.

Re: The Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

Is there ONE Gen were we don't have to deal with Kanto?

Unova, B/W1.

I said Gen, not game. While, yes, BW didn't have ANY Kanto Mons, it was still part of Gen V that DID have Kanto Mons. So my statement stands.

Send an e-mail suggesting this to GF. Maybe they will listen.

I don't they'll even listen.
I done it last time and I didn't got a reply for the last 6 years
They'll never listen to fans that live in the West and only listen to fans that lives in Japan

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

Yeah, I think having the Exp.Share turned on by default was a bad move.

Why is it a bad move? It only takes a second to switch it off.

Maybe there are players who haven't realized it was on until halfway through the game.

It informs you after you defeat every Pokemon that your other Pokemon receive Experience points. You'd have to pay very little attention to the game to make it half way through without noticing. If they didn't notice, it's their own fault, as they have been informed constantly.

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

I found it too easy...

After beating Lysandre in Team Flare's HQ, we then have to go through several more Team Flare members then Lysandre again... I was just thinking "What is the point in this? You guys are merely a nuisance... Let me finish this damn part of the storyline already!"

The game was way too easy with the new EXP. Share. I did no grinding whatsoever and the only gym leader I had problems with was the Fairy one as half of my team are dark types and one is a dragon. Even then it was only Sylveon doing the damage to me.

That is why I put 'maybe' in italics.

If that's so, what did you expect? Pokemon is a Japanese game created by a Japanese game company.

but everyone and every country knows pokemon (like super mario)
can you give a game company from the America a chance to make their own Pokemon game for once

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

Why would Game Freak want to let other companies make money from its ideas & take risks with the quality of their franchise?

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

I think my only complaint is how easy it is to overlevel your pokemon on accident, at gym 3, i was 5 or 10 levels higher than the gym leader, this remained true even with the E4

Oh and the E4 were REALLY REALLY easy. Two of which were completely and utterly swept by my vaporeon alone. The only problem I had was fighting the one gyarados due to just not having an electric type, and the Aegislash, only because it barely hung on after flamethrower.

For the champion My megavenusaur swept their ENTIRE TEAM, except for the one psychic type on their team! It was a joke, compared to the last champions :/

Everything else I really enjoy though, from the designs,to graphics, and gameplay, I love it all.

-No left handed option for super training
-Story is dull: (spoiler)
Theyve already been run down to getting you to save the world? This is not why I play pokemon.
-Weak designs
-Nerfed moves
-Too easy (one hit ko'd most of the gym leaders and elite four, only blacked out once)
-my blaziken out levels my greninja, which realllllly bugs me
-less than 70 new pokemon!
-free lucario, I mean really. One out of three generations give you a free lucario.
-5 bux to transfer pokemon?
-roller skates make bikes useless and make it hard to talk to people
-fairy type could've been executed way better
-mega evolutions add ZERO strategy
- too many kantos
-mega charizard x is so much better than mega charizard y

Hey, but I love the game. Pokemon design is getting worse but gameplay and graphics are getting better.

Sorry for the spelling mistakes.

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

Meowstic male and female get counted as the same Pokemon, so I can't use them in doubles online or in the Masion since there's no duplicates allowed. What's that all about? I thought their entire design just screamed tag team partners like Plusle & Minun. At least I can use it in local multiplayer.

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

I rant that people call the designs weak. This mostly coming from the people that growed up with the generation full of circles and a great deal of Pokemon that evolve by adding more. At least Honedge changed a little.

Not letting the Rollerskates being turned on/off like the bike.

The bike not being faster or easier controlled than the Rollerskates.

Limited choices for bike colors. I want Orange! >:3

Elite 4 not getting stronger. Even +5 levels, another Pokemon and a Mega, or just two Pokemon would make it better.

The limited choice for multiplayer battle music. And there not titled.

No explanation for the orbs in Terminus Cave. At all.

Distribution for new Pokemon is appalling later on.

Delphox and Greninja don't really fit their roll. Delphox reminds me more of a prophetess, not learning much 'Magical' moves, and Greninja doesn't get Thief, reminding me more of a Assasain.

Many of the Pokemon are single staged. Carbink, Klefki and friends would appreciate them.

Moonblast isn't a TM.

Just my opinion.

Re: (READ POST #18) Gen VI Rant/Complaint/Disappointment Thread

The games are amazing, the small amount of new pokes doesn't mock me in particular. I have almost no complains gamer-wise.

But as a software programmer, the Lumiose save crash hit me right in my feels. How the hell! It's arguably the worst development mistake since Gen I, or maybe the worst ever. The first Red and Green were plenty of glitches, but at least GameFreak was a group of rookie developers back then. And still, you had to make a series or non-intuitive steps to exploit a glitch and/or induce a crash. But now this happens just by saving game! Supposedly GameFreak has been in the business for at least seventeen years or more, how did they let it through?

I have an odd feeling it wasn't on purpose. As a QA tester, myself for at least one title, I know that, Bugs happen, big or small, even if you have all the money in the world to push into a game. Things can crop up that have never EVER been seen in playtesting, even if you test it into the ground, things can even appear soley on public releases, and it's really really weird. I also have a feeling it literally never cropped up for any of them, and I never heard of it happening in the demo (I think lumiose was in demo or something?), so out of the thousands that played that, not one had the issue.

So if they never witnessed or had the problem, period, despite extensive testing and retesting of the area, then I honestly think it's safe to say you can't fix something if you just don't know about it.

I've witnessed a bug in the game I played where, in the dev branch and ingame, an object appeared and was completely functional and nice, but when it went to the testing branch, the entire object was invisible and would launch you into the air if touched. We're talking about a whole garage, here.

Although, it does sound like a fix is coming, so there's that. If they were as terrible, lazy, bad, and incompetent as plenty of people made them out to be, they wouldn't even entertain the idea of issuing a patch to fix it.

Absolutely - I've done enough Q/A testing to know that you can have a pretty huge sample size where a showstopper bug like that never shows till you set it loose in the wild with customers. I have no issues saving/loading in Lumiose. ANYWHERE. Neither does my GF. And most of my local friends weren't aware of this potential issue either as they haven't encountered it. Yet it's obviously a big issue affecting quite a few customers.

But why only some and no others? And if the sample size is what it is, it's valid to expect that even with all their QA they may simply never have seen it till we got our excited paws on it somehow.

I never said they're lazy. And obviously it wasn't on purpose.

I have no statistics about how many players were or weren't affected by the glitch. Suppose a million players saved game while being into the glitched zone (the whole Boulevard, as far as I know), and only some dozens lost their save games. In that case, the glitch was hard to pick and you are right. But now imagine that only some dozens chose to save game in the boulevard, and most of them were affected. In that case the chance of the glitch to activate would be high, and THAT would be a big -and embarrasing- oversight. And it's not an unlikely scenario, depending of players' behavior: maybe most people saved inside, say, Sycamore's lab. Or a Pokémon Center. I don't know. (Myself? Before the revelation of the glitch, I just saved once inside Sycamore's lab, before picking Charmander)
