Pokemon Bank

Yes it is. In asia. It is 100% fully functional and they just arent releasing it here due to some mean tweets. That is ridiculously sad. And also it took a month to get it back up in asia when in all reality that problem takes any other company a week or less to solve

I know it's up in Asia. And they are NOT refusing to release it here because of mean tweets, but again, I wouldn't blame them if they did. Honestly, the attitudes around here would make me not want to release it either. And how do you know how long it should take any given company to fix the problem the Bank had?

Because I play many games that have very similar issues and most only take a few hours, a couple days tops. But hey I was willing to give them the botd and give them a couple weeks. And if it has been up in asia for a week with zero issues I cant possibly see the issue. And they deserve all the scorn they get and 10 times more. They failed to deliver to their customers, kept us in the dark because they just dont care, and now that it is ready they are taking their good old time to release it here. Nintendo used to be #4 on my gaming company list and now they are the lowest of the low.

I think its more complicated then most people understand especially with all of Nintendo region BS the only reason they did a global release for x and Y was because massive NEW staff hires

Regardless, no one brought this problem on but nintendo themselves. They didnt prepare correctly and the connection process was just an awful design. So I dont believe it is very justifiable to defend nintendo in this case especially with how bad their pr has been

I am not defending but most people here fail to understand many of nintendo's problems right now (with the wii U flop and investors and shareholders calling for Iwata's head) and some of the major problems with this bank system idea is because NINTENDO NETWORK IS CRAP and was badly designed in the first place but what do you expect of company who relies almost constant "rehashes" with some improvements of old franchises for there fans and the casual (which has moved on to mobile platforms now) and kids usually

Which, in that case, they should have done better with the Bank and please their customers, NOT make them have a bad experience because of them. Whether it's delays, errors, or whatever - if the customers aren't happy, then they're doing a bad job.

Agreed, however in any case i think people should have more REASONABLE and REALISTIC (which probably comes from me knowing about nintendo's problems) expectations when it comes to this or anything else especially VG and the like just because it has a release date doesn't mean its set in concrete. In fact I am probably one of the few here that never expected it to come out in December and probably would have a delay of a few month in the west actually.

I understand but dont sympathize. Nintendo should have either 1. saw the upcoming issues and prepared much sooner and much better. Or 2. Pushed the release date back before distribution and kept fans in the loop. They are just failing on all cylinders here. Bad development, bad preparation, bad pr. Nintendo is pretty much imploding right now which is hard to belive because they are usually the stable ones. My opinion of them has definitely lowered which is sad to say as the first game I ever played religiously was pokemon yellow 14 years ago. man that makes me feel old

The problem is in many of these cases the company doesn't know what will happen with stuff such as server over load until it happens a good example is the PS4 launch

Of course Nintendo's network is crap and they are loosing money. They are stuck in the lets just make kiddie games 18-30 year old people don't have disposable income and don't play games! The internet is not for games!
I love Nintendo I think you make a great product, but if you don't stay competitive you will go under. My kids stupid Leap Pad requires internet.

But that is what makes it even worse. They have no common sense. They have a huge costumer base, it was during the holiday season, everyone is going to be wanting to use the service the first day, many at the same time. It is just common sense that the strain on the servers will be huge. They need to see that coming and prepare

As far as we know it was just Pokemon Bank that crashed the servers.

I seem to remember it being stated during E3 that they currently had no way of transferring Pokemon yet, so I'd guess that it would've started after that.

I was more-so speaking of Bank as a separate product to X/Y. I reckon the core concept (transfer from a prevous generation, then stored en masse) behind Bank would have been in development since they stopped working on Black and White 2 and switched gears to X and Y, with Bank being a very late suddenly sparked idea (after all, they were given the idea by a Japanese idol or something).

But did nintendo really think no one was gonna use bank? And all reports I have read said it was mainly do to all the new wii u and 3ds users signing up for nintendo ids

I have been lurking in this thread for a while and I think its time to share my thoughts after one month. While the delay is not a big deal for the fact that I played mostly with my Playstation Vita (namely Atelier Rorona) in the past few weeks, what I find unacceptable is the lack of transparency. I understand that getting new servers up and make sure its stable is going to take some time as I currently major in Information Technology, but not giving any updates on the progress or an estimated release date I think it's a disservice to their big fanbase. We know that Nintendo isn't doing that well, but I think their lack of transparency in regards of getting Pokebank online elsewhere will only do more harm than good. Cloud computing is new technology and they should have stuck with local storage and just charge as much as Pokemon Box or Pokemon Ranch (perhaps 15 to 20 bucks) until the technology matured enough.

Thats the issue. They arent working. They got it out in asia and now they are back to slacking. I understand if they gave it a couple days to see how it went but it has been a week. They are giving zero effort all because a few people told them like it is. Nintendo is a joke to me now. After pokemon bank im not sure im gonna be getting any more nintendo products until they shape up

It wouldn't have gone back up in Asia if they hadn't been working on it. So they have. Also, we don't know what the reason is. For all we know, they have to make sure all things check out all right for the rest of the world and it can take a while. I fail to see how that equates to putting forth zero effort when it is clearly back up and running.

Yes it is. In asia. It is 100% fully functional and they just arent releasing it here due to some mean tweets. That is ridiculously sad. And also it took a month to get it back up in asia when in all reality that problem takes any other company a week or less to solve

fir the love of god

THATS NOT WHY

DOE WE NEED TO SAY IT MULTIPLE TIMES

Didn't I already tell you your Caps Lock seems to be malfunctioning?

@topic: I'm not sure what else I can say right now that's not already been said here a hundred times already; we need more transparency to stop incidents like this from blowing out of proportion. As far as most people are concerned the bank is up and functional with no reason to be delayed further. I'm sure there's some reason (none of which are legitimate at this point) but if they don't actually say anything then nobody, be it their customers or their investors, will be too likely to trust them.

I 100% agree. It's the lack of any actual communication that's getting on everyone's nerves. An entire month without an update is just terrible PR. Not to mention the frustration of online battles against Pokemon we can't use yet. It's certainly not the end of the world or anything, but it is annoying.

I know. I can breed most bank pokemon now but things like the Lati@s and Rayquaza make me just leave straight away.

The game was released in Japan and Korea exactly the week where the free trials of the lucky people who downloaded on 25th December end. They release it to be sure people pay the bill. The question is, are Japanese people going to pay the bill?

Nintendo don't want Bank to be released and the rules of the tournaments held by Nintendo prove that. They mark the Kalos native symbol (the pentagon) to be sure that any pokemon that enter in a official tournament has the marking of Nintendo.

The Bank is created solely because they found that there were no space in the game to include all the pokemon, specially legendaries and starters. The rest of Bank is just a bonus.

And about that Japanese idol (which it's Shoko Nakagawa). More or less, Shoko Nakagawa is an older fan of Pokemon. The difference is that Nakagawa is a Japanese model and it's the presentor of Get TV. The influence in the development of Bank is actually zero.

From the thread http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f280/po...-europe-australia-americas-161007/index4.html
Nintendo of South Korea had a Nintendo Direct today and in the very beginning of the video they mention Pokemon Bank.

Can anyone translate Korean?

I'll summarize what he said regarding Bank:

1. The E-shop had been very busy because of all the servers focused due to the Pokemon Bank launch since the 25th
2. They had to stop the e-shop/Bank service since the 27th
3. The e-shop is currently back up (17th) and working, but as there are still problems with the Bank, they will be working on improving the server connection so their clients can use Bank as soon as possible.
4. They're apologizing for the inconvenience, and promises to do their best for their clients.

Gee, at least they offered an official apology.
Yes this was in 17th January but at least now everybody can shut up about Nintendo saying nothing about the Pokemon Bank.

31 boxes of 30 pokemon = 980 pokemon. For now at least, that is more than there are pokemon so that statement is incorrect.

Also no, nobody can or will shut up about nintendo saying nothing because ONE PRESS REPORT which says very little overall that isn't a standard response from about 2 weeks ago doesn't hold much sway in the "Nintendo are not being transparent!" argument.
