Dogasu's Backpack Discussion

I should have clarified at the start; of course the racial stigma won't go away, but since Rougela has so many different possible design origins I personally would have loved to get confirmation to settle any debates. Thank you for confirming that Sugimori wasn't the main designer from the start.

Given your summary of the first chapter of the Volcanion movie tie-in manga; I don't know what to make of the premise still. I'm not a real big fan of chained heat stories; but Magearna does open up quite a few possibilities, as does the setting of Azoth Kingdom. I've liked retro-futuristic settings for a long time; and I wonder how Sun and Moon will build on the successes of Generation V and VI. I guess we'll find out more when further issues are released (since they're teasing more information in April). Lastly, Pokkén Tournament comes out on Wii U Friday; looking forward to picking that up. As a fan of both Pokémon and Tekken, I've been wanting to play it ever since I heard the announcement. Also, it will be interesting to see how the Amiibo cross-compatibility works in unlocking features (and not just with the Shadow Mewtwo card or the Pokémon-related figures either).

What is the meaning of this Dogasu website in Pokemon Daisuki Club?!

*shrugs* Your guess is as good as mine! They wanted to make a website that offers a retrospective on the early days and for some reason they decided to make a Dogas the site's mascot. No complaints here!

Dogasu, are your students aware you have this Pokemon-based website? Not sure if you still teach since you mentioned some promotions and all...

Of course they probably won't understand a thing on it, still have you also showed them or some of them? Idk, I have this question in mind ever since I read you're a teacher in your FAQ :p

Well, that sucks.

The sad part is that this sounds like one of the better PokeMovies :(

From the prediction section:
Happy Anniversary! (Year Sixteen)

Pokémon Go isn't going to be even a little bit like the announcement commercial. There is absolutely no way Nintendo is going to let the Pokémon name be put on a product that basically encourages children to wander off into the woods / dark alleyways / God knows where else without adult supervision and the potential for even grown-ass men and women to be killed because of this app is just way too high. So instead I think it's going to be a very restricted, very controlled experience that tells players where to go in only the vaguest of terms ("inside building," "in Central Park," "near lake," "in Times Square") so users can get in and out without incident. Fans will be disappointed that the game doesn't meet their unrealistic expectations but it'll still be downloaded a gajillion times any damn way.

So true, I don't even like installing games on my android devices and i downloaded this. Heck even non-pokemon fans are downloading it.

I just wish the Trading part was there. :(

I acutally changed careers about a year and a half ago! But back when I was teaching I never said anything to my students about me having a website, mainly because 1) most of them were too young to know what a "website" even is (I was teaching preschool for the last four years there) and 2) it never seemed appropriate to bring it up?

Here's a news special about the Pokemon Shock incident from I'm guessing Christmas 1997. I don't know if it has any new information for you to update your Electric Solider Porygon comparison, but I think it will interest you regardless. :)

That's a great find! I'm sure it does have some great information that can be used on the site (if not for the comparison then at least for some other section) but unfortunately I haven't had the time to check out the entire 45 minutes yet.

When you get a sec... :p

Fixed! Thanks for pointing that out.

*checks BO update*

That doesn't sound so bad :)
Might not be a hit (I doubt that will ever happen again), but hopefully it won't flop either.

To be fair, it was up against the new One Piece movie and Finding Dory, so that would make it more difficult for the movie to be a huge hit with that kind of competition. It does seem to be doing pretty well all things considered.

I didn't realize that there wasn't a little prologue short for the Magearna movie until now and while that most likely is due to budget cuts from the Hoopa movie not doing so well, I'm perfectly fine with losing those shorts. They've been making those prologue shorts since the Genesect movie, but they felt really pointless to me. They don't really add much of anything and it seemed more like an excuse to plug in the new Legendary Pokemon, or Mega Mewtwo Y before we knew what Mega Evolution was, before the movies came out more than anything else to me. I'd rather that they spend that time, energy and money on the movies themselves than make nice but pretty unnecessary in the grand scheme of things shorts. Same with the lack of a Pikachu short. While those have been more enjoyable compared to the , I feel like the movies could use the extra running time instead of having something like a Pikachu short taking up ten or so minutes from the movie.

It is too bad if the lack of a location scouting trip and less behind the scenes interviews are from budget cuts though. Maybe if the Magearna movie does well enough, they'll be able to do more for the next movie, especially when it will be the 20th movie and they'd want to make a big deal about that.

Yep, it's the Adam Sandler effect. Though personally I like the real-world inspiration myself and think it really did help some movies feel more authentic like Lati@s and Deoxys, which have two of the nicest looking cities in the franchise.

Sir, what on earth is that adorable Koiking video you posted on Twitter?

The movie was watched by 289,971 people over the three-day weekend. The audience was composed of 62% male and 38% female. When broken down by age, elementary school children made up 43.1% of the audience, preschoolers made up 10%, and those in their twenties made up 25.4%.

Only 53 percent of audience is children? Is that normal?
