That is the general opinion. GBM, Momoka and I are just oddballs it seems. xD Brotherhood is a faithful adaption of the manga, whereas the original 2003 anime had the same basic elements and characters, but went a completely different route because, at the time, there were only 1-2 volumes of material out. (Seeing how this anime was what introduced me to the franchise, I might be biased. :U) I'd say the 2003 one is more melancholic, but has the more interesting Big Bad and origin stories for the homunculi. But I'd also say it comes down to personal preference. Both have plenty of things to like about them though. Yes yes, the highest level of approval.

The rainbow coloring carried over from my "Code Geass craze days."
