mine was Chikorita because when i was about 7/8 years old I got Silver for my birthday and I picked Chikorita :)
 
Turtwig in Diamond. I think i actually closed my eyes and randomly chose!
 
Mudkip on Sapphire. The first Pokemon I captured was a Ralts and I was very annoyed when Wally caught one as well, especially at a higher level.

the exact same thing happened with me, except my sister deleted my game. but i miss my charizard (nicknamed boiling. my first level 100...) you... are my best forum friend now. lolz.

oddly enough, i left my squirtle in the PC after catching a clefairy. which became a lvl. 100 clefable. (nice tri-attack brought it to the top)
 
Well, my very first legit Pokemon (I won't count the times when I took my brother's Red; because I never played more than an hour of it...) was Torchic in Sapphire.
 
Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow, like a BAWSS.

Got it all the way up to lv. 87 with Thunder, Agility, Thunderbolt, & Mega Punch
 
Pikachu on Yellow, Bulbasaur on Red, Charmander on Blue, but when when I restarted Blue I picked Squirtle.
My Pikachu was called "Sooky" as homage to my favorite childhood toy (who payed homage to one of our past cats), my Charizard called "Flamer", my Bulbasaur called "Dieeno" (personally I can't remember why) and my Squirtle was called "Cannon". So yeah. Long since they've been lost, though…
