According to this page, there will be a Smash-like special on September 23rd (a Monday) that will celebrate the Red/Green and X/Y games in relation to the anime. Scenes from both Origin and the XY series will be featured.

A two-hour television slot would make it even longer than the Legend of Thunder special, which is good.

Just a little under 2 hours, eh? Hopefully they'll be able to put in enough good stuff with that.

The special will not be two hours long. Yes, the show's scheduled to run from 7:00pm to 8:49pm, but you then have to factor in things like commercial breaks and opening / ending themes into that time as well.

The special will be closer to an hour and a half.

Oh, I know that. That's why I said it was a two-hour slot.

But the Legend of Thunder special only took an hour and a half slot, which would still make Pokémon: The Origin longer than that.

The Legend of Thunder's length was an hour, so I doubt that it took an entire hour and a half slot even with commercials. It was probably around 75 minutes.

The longest Pokémon movie was Movie 9 at 101 minutes (excluding the credits). To me that goes to show that length isn't an indication of quality, but I don't think Origin will have that problem.

Aw, I wish they knew that even if Red was the only option at the time of the first games, it doesn't mean nobody cares about Leaf. I would like to see her.

Either way, my point still stands. Raikou, The Legend of Thunder was about the length of the Mewtwo special, while Pokémon: The Origin will be about a movie's length, as you said.

And I never implied that the length of any airing directly effects the quality of it (though I understand maybe you weren't actually saying I was).

Still sounds good! :)

Though what's up with the stop time  Why not just use the whole 2 hours?

Is that 11 minute gap going to be use for some bonus Gen 6 coverage/previewing, or does this mean the Cilan/Brock special be shorter than we thought? :uhoh:

I see no point in comparing The Origin with The Legend of Thunder or with Pokémon Special manga.

The art of The Legend of Thunder was the very same one of the regular series. We can see that The Origin has a completely different art, so it may be a clue it doesn't have the same purpose. Besides that, this new anime special will be directly based on the games, so it will be another (and more direct) interpretation of the events of the games. I think it's much better than seeing the same interpretation we have already seen in the manga.

At last, I hoped the length of the special was about 1 hour, so they could release more specials. It's hard but still not impossible if there are lots of commercials, lol.

People really?

Legend of Thunder was ages ago, why does it matter? We should just be lucky we got this special at all, although I hope everything does come out balanced and well written indeed.

Nothing.

I would guess that because the dub just had to fit a movie and two extra episodes on top of their normal schedule, we probably won't see this dubbed for a while.

I question the decision to dub Movie 16 before Origin. The latter is obviously more relevant to the games judging from the way it's being promoted in Japan. It's also by far a better way to pique people's interest in the franchise.

I would genuinely be surprised if this special doesn't get dubbed. The way it's being hyped, both officially and unofficially, both on Pokemon sites and on non-Pokemon sites, makes it very hard for TPCI to just ignore it and hope we forget about it. It's the year 2013 - if a heavily promoted hour and a half special airs in Japan, enough of us will be upset if it doesn't air in the U.S.

The inclusion of those five BGM tracks from this special on the XY soundtrack would also be out of place if the special was never dubbed, though I suppose it's easy enough for those to be omitted from the American release.

Like the fresh animation style, SO DIFFERENT from the TV anime (the one with Ash). I hope it will be dubbed soon and put it on Pokemon TV!

I wonder how would be the pokémon cries in an animation directly based on games. Would they speak only their own names (as in the regular series) or would they make those strange sounds?

I am loving the animation and the sharp colors. Also, that Nidoran looks so cute. ^^ A shame it will probably be an ugly Nidoking by the end of the special.

The website update also confirms that Origin is divided into four chapters (the term used is reports). The chapter names are Red, Cubone, Giovanni and Charizard, in that order. It seems that the first chapter will focus on Red's beginning, the second on the Pokémon Tower plot, the third on the encounters with Giovanni (including Viridian Gym), and the fourth on the Champion League (as it is called in one of the trailers) and Cerulean Cave.
