No one knows anything about that kid since there wasn't anything that announced his introduction. I assume he's just the ORAS promoting guy, if only because of the Treecko he's carrying.

Edit: Also the song doesn't hold a candle to (Mega) Volt. The spoilers were interesting though.

Some spoilers from the opening.

- Ash's newly caught Goomy evolves all the way to Goodra.
- The Gym Leaders from Ramos all the way to Olympia are shown with a few of their anime Pokemon. A few of the leaders have different Pokémon not present with them in the games:
  • Valerie has a Spritzee.
  • Olympia has a male Meowstic and a female Meowstic; the gym battle appears to be a double battle.

Like the original version of V (Volt), this opening contains some pretty damn nice visuals. Doesn't carry that many spoilers, surprisingly considering there's a couple we're expecting. Kinda makes me wonder if an expected evolution is actually going to happen.

That's another thing, how long does an opening last? Cause if what's shown is what will be done up to the next one, then that's a short period for 4 gyms if its like 5 months or so.

And even then the spoilers in the opening are indirect. The opening merely showed a Goomy evolving during a brief scene. Ash's Goomy (or any of the other Pokémon expected to evolve in the near future) aren't shown in their evolved forms at all.

It is weird, considering we know certain evolutions would happen in the time covered for the openings:
Serena's Fennekin will evolve before the Lumiose Gym Battle, according to the footage from the New Year's Special

I wonder how much you can read into Tierno/Trevor/Shauna not being in the opening - the latter you'd assume might appear again relating to Serena's performances, but if they were going to do something with them presumably they'd have at least had a brief shot.

The guy with the Treeko seems to be the only non-Gym leader shown other than the main characters - just ORAS promotion?

It's weird seeing Clemont shown in the opening both as Ash's travelling companion and the serious gym leader.

So far I prefer Volt as a song, but I didn't initially like Mega Volt as much as I do now, so I'd be surprised if I wasn't a huge fan of the song by the time they replace it.

Hopefully this has come in time to form the basis of the new dub opening, would be a shame if they end up using Mega Volt clips for that.

Actually, I'm not sure about that.
Don't forget Fokko and Tairenar have very similar faces, it was a distanced shot and it was the same size as Harimaron. For all we know, the Tairenar we saw in that picture isn't Serena's but Elle's...
and I'm well aware this is technically a discussion for a separate thread.

So Goodra and the Clemont battle were shown, but Braixen wasn't. What the frigging hell?

I'm laughing that there is more DiodeShipping than AmourShipping in this opening.

It looks like they made it easy to edit the evolutions by the time they come. :) Luxray and Braixen could fit in there while Goodra was already shown. They previewed from gym 4 to 7, I guess all of these gyms will happen during 2015 and Wulfric and Pokémon League during 2016.

I wonder who's the boy with the Treeko. It looks like someone who's aiming to follow in Ash's footsteps, maybe someone who admires Ash and aspires to be like him? If that's so, then it's a good sign :D

In every region from Johto to Unova (Kanto only had one opening), only the first opening lasted more than a year. Here's the episode count of the second opening for each of the aforementioned regions:

Johto: 47
Hoenn: 35
Sinnoh: 38
Unova: 38 (including the Episode N remix)

Chances are that this new opening isn't going to last more than 40 episodes. It's probably going to be updated after the Lumiose gym, too.

The opening was so visually impressive! I just love the group dynamics shown here between Ash, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie and I'm really getting pumped up for these gym battles! It seems we might have a DOUBLE battle on our hands also. Also who's that boy with the Treecko!?

I dunno, they showed ALL the GLs as silhouettes in "Volt" and look how that turned out (Thank Arceus).

Calling it now: they're going to change up the footage after the Ash/Clemont battle like how they did "Mega-Volt" after the Korrina battle.

There's a big difference between showing silhouettes for all the gym leaders and actually showcasing a specific subset of them (excluding Wulfric) alongside their Pokémon.

Oh my god Clemont with that lightning strike behind him was so badass. Clemont really is getting a lot of love in the anime.

I don't like the song as much as the other one, but it's still pretty nice. And I see a hint of a new rival for Ash. Get hype

THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD MAKE ME HAPPIER NOW IS IF WE GET CONFIRMATION FOR A MEGA EVOLUTION, PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! Oh, and Serena looks absolutely gorgeous in her performer outfit.

I liked the new opening. The song is great and the scenes were so cool. My favorite scene is the one where Ash is lifting Clemont on his back...cuz lol. I'm really excited for the gym battle between these two and Serena's performances most of all. Also pretty hyped for Goomy and his evolution to Goodra. I can't wait to see how that plays out.

I'm interested in the kid with the Treecko. I don't really like his design at all, but I curious to see what role he's going to play.

I think the Treecko trainer in the opening is connected to Roxanne and/or Rustboro City's Trainer School.

The trainer's attire, including the black vest and red tie, are quite similar in design to Roxanne's own clothing (in ORAS). Maybe the trainer is also a student at the school, and both characters are wearing the institution's unfirom?

The fact that he is carrying a notebook and recording whatever he observes into it is proof that he at the very least has an inquisitive mind.

If you're counting remixes, then High Touch! (the second Sinnoh opening) technically lasted longer than a year. Counting both the original and remix as a whole, High Touch! was used for the last three months of 2008 and all of 2009 before being replaced by The Greatest - Everyday!

In terms of episode count, High Touch! was used for 62 episodes (DP096 to DP157).

The point being that we don't know how long this opening will last. The 40-episode mark is no more reasonable than any other estimate.
