The release dates for Dhelmise and Vaporeon, the next Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE, have been revealed — Dhelmise will be available from November 14, while Vaporeon will be debuting on November 20. Dhelmise is a Melee All-Rounder that deals Physical damage; while Vaporeon is a Special-Attacking Ranged Defender. At the time of writing, no further details on these two Pokémon have been announced.

Mega Charizard X is the latest Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE. It is a separate Unite License from Charizard's regular Unite License. It is a Melee All-Rounder with Beginner difficulty that deals Physical damage. It can Mega Evolve for a short while after using its Unite Move Seismic Slam. To celebrate the introduction of Mega Evolution licenses, a special event in-game event will be held till November 14th, where players can complete missions to earn the Unite license for Mega Charizard X.

The release date for Mega Lucario, the next Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE has been updated — it will now be available from September 28th. Mega Lucario will be a separate license from Lucario's existing Unite License and will be an All-Rounder. Mega Lucario was originally revealed to be joining Pokémon UNITE on October 3rd, along with Mega Charizard X on October 24th, and two more Mega Evolved Pokémon joining the fray by the end of this year.

The latest Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE is Empoleon. It is a Melee All-Rounder with Intermediate difficulty that deals Special damage. As is usual for a new Pokémon release, a new set of Holowear has also been made available, with Regal Style: Empoleon now available in Zirco Trading, featuring Audio/Visual FX for Movement. To celebrate Empoleon's addition to the game, a special in-game event will be held from Friday, September 19th to Tuesday, October 14th, where players can complete missions and collect special coins that can be exchanged for Empoleon's Unite License.

Pokémon UNITE updated to Version 1.20.1.3 at 7am (UTC) on September 5th. This update, rolled out just one day after the previous update which added Pawmot to the game, brings emergency balance adjustments and bug fixes. Specifically, it was found that Pawmot would be knocked out more easily than anticipated, so its durability and Unite Move effect have been improved to utilize it as a sustained fighter. It also fixes experience gain in the early stages of the new Theia Sky Ruins (Groudon) map, which would often make matches one-sided.

The Theia Sky Ruins maps in Pokémon UNITE is getting a major update on Thursday, September 4th: the battlefield will receive a massive overhaul, and the legendary Pokémon Groudon will now appear in the center of the map instead of Rayquaza. Defeating Groudon will grant the entire team a powerful buff that lasts until the Pokémon is knocked out: a massive boost to goal-scoring speed, increased damage, and a shield effect. Other Pokémon will also be able to steal this effect for themselves for a short while by knocking-out an opponent with this buff. Additionally, wild Pokémon spawns have also been changed, along with changes to the tall grass areas of the map.

The 2025 Pokémon World Championships are running later this month, from August 15th to 17th. For the past couple of years, the Pokémon Fantasy Team sweepstakes has run together with the event, challenging fans to pick which Pokémon are most likely to show up in the top 8 of the VGC and TCG events. This year, it seems Pokémon UNITE is getting a share of the action, with the introduction of its own WCS Prediction Event, plus a WCS Spectator Campaign lottery.
