Dive was one of the best parts about Gen III. Every time I surfed in an area I searched the entire thing to see if there was any dark blue spots. So much fun. I'd like to see all HMs in Gen V though.

I dunno, I have trouble imagining how that bowl over...I mean, Fire Pokemon would be basically dead (if Charmander's flame goes out, it dies or something, right?); any Rock - or Ground-type would also die; and then the various Normal-types which probably can't swim. So one would have to eliminate Rock, Ground, Fire, Steel, Bugs (depending on secondary element), Flying (depending on secondary element), most Psychic types, etc....just seems unfeasible.

Uhh... this is Pokemon we're talking about here. But then again, the examples that you just gave would probably only apply the anime, and not the games. In R/S/E, if you as the Player can actually breath underwater while using Dive, I don't see the problem with using any type of Pokemon underwater either. Pokemon's weird that way I guess...:-/

You're looking at it from a realistic point of view... rain should put out Charmander's tail too, but it doesn't. I'm just thinking that having a gradual-damage water type move would work. Somehow Brendan was able to walk underwater all the time without any ill effect, surely they won't jump from no-oxygen-needed to all out physics-based logic, right?

Brendan was only able to walk underwater because he had a rebreather, which allowed him to be underwater. You could see this too in the games. Maybe all the non-water types are wearing rebreathers as well.

I never noticed the rebreather. I always assumed Dive either allowed a Pokémon to share its oxygen supply with its trainer, or that it created an air bubble.

In any case, I'd love to see Dive return. I can see it having a lot more potential in Gen V than it did in III, as well as looking absolutely gorgeous on DS.

I liked dive also, it was pretty damn cool going underwater like that, and going around the seaweed to find pokemon like clampearl and relicanth.. Plus the whole puzzle you had to solve in the cave and stuff and just getting to the legends was cool too.

since dive had been confirmed . should the mods delete this thread already

I will say yes. Even though it's confirmed, I think I want Dive back even though it haven't been announced yet.
