Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Champion speculation

Ground, electric, flying and ghost type elite four.
A champion with six pokemon from the first six generations.

I'm not sure we're about the ground elite. Personally as I've stated before I think one of the gym leaders will specialize in Ground, Rock or Steel if the silhouettes and names are anything to go by.

Since this IS a region based off of Hawaii, I get the impression we're going to have a gym leader that is a Water type specialist, or a Fire type specialist. This is because Hawaii is a chain of islands, surrounded by water and beaches. It is also a series of islands with volcanoes, which would probably give a good basis for a volcanic gym. I also expect a Ghost type gym for some reason.

My bets.
Alola Gym Leaders: Water, Normal, Dark, Ground, Poison, Flying, Fire, Fighting.
Elite Four: Fairy, Psychic, Steel, Grass.

Here's hoping a Water Gym Leader is around the area based on Pearl Harbor and she's/he's a Navy Seal.

Dark gym please!!!! just please make it!!
I also really want to see a gym leader who doesn't have a type. If I remember correctly we haven't seen one since Blue from Gold/Silver/Crystal and the remakes. That is seriously sad.
I also want to see a champion without a certain type. Preferably male, since the last male champion we got (not including remakes) was Alder in Pokemon Black and White, so like 2010.
I want to see one of the Elite 4 with a fairy type.
I also want to see another normal gym leader. Those battles can be a little challenging because lots of normal types are really bulky and can be really annoying. Maybe another Ghost gym would be cool too. And since the region is based off of Hawaii, I think lots of us expect a fire and water type gym.

So am I crazy or are the gen 5 gyms back? IE there are only two same buildings on all the islands that WOULD be a gym,but little else. I am leaning to the fancy hotels bar the one with a golf course being the gyms this gen. Which is why I can see the victory road being instead that huge floating base thing, the ultimate Hotel.

Wow. This actually makes a lot of sense. There are a number of hotels in the region conveniently located near towns and cities.

And even if it's not hotels specifically, I agree 100% that the gyms will be assimilated into each town or city's culture a la Generation 5 in Unova.

Yeah I'm banking hard on the gyms are hotels now. Hyatt Waikiki should be that hexagonal building in the big city, which would be the theoretical first gym. There aren't a lot of huge grand gym hotels though, most are subtle if I'm guessing correctly.
Hexagonal Gym.
Water gym with Fountain.
Golf Gym?
Gym with Green Roof that has a small parking lot north of golf Gym.
Castle Gym
Rural Japan Gym
Gym Near the Lighthouse
Black Sand Beach Gym

Because of how many are on the second island and so close together in my speculation, I think a lot of backtracking and travelling is in order. Not a lot of other buildings scream gym either, so hopefully I'm not too off.

The only problem I have with that speculation is why bother having two regular gym buildings alongside six unique ones? They could make eight unique ones surely?

But you're right in that there's nowhere close to eight. I doubt there is six hidden with the current angle too, so the speculation that other buildings are the gyms seems more legit.

I do think that Grass, Fire, Water and Electric would be for gym leaders/elite four as this is a tropical region. Rock, Ground, Steel, Ice, Dark, Fairy, Bug and Poison are possibilities. The champion can be multi-type and use the remaining types - Fighting, Psychic, Ghost, Dragon, Normal and Flying.

I really really REALLY want a dark gym.

Ongoing to also say that I'd be fine with the female champion thing going on, since it's still a 3/5 ratio in favor of guys. Yeah, that means a lot of girls in a row, but I'd rather have that than a sausage fest.

I think electric would be cool for the e4 since it seems like its been a gym type for too long, like water. Siebold was perhaps slightly underwhelming, but I liked having water in the e4 lineup.

although, Kalos had three unique gym designs in four cities (Cyllage and Coumarine, Lumiose, and Laverre) and Hoenn had one unique design (Fortree; two if you want to include Mauville) so i don't think that really puts it out of the realm of possibility. i think the big question, gym wise at least, is why is this building, in a region with very few repeated buildings (i can only spot Pokemon Centers and maybe more Slaking Motels), repeated? but then it's only repeated twice? strange.

what i'm also really curious about is where the League could be. the only thing that seems to remotely fits the general League trends is that artificial island but that's predicated on an underwater or biosphere-esque Victory Road.

Oh I completely forgot Kalso had a mixture of both, that does make more sense. Maybe these two are the first two gyms and after that they then get their own unique buildings?

And this may be more suited to another thread but there's also a small blue square house with a brown roof repeated once on each island. One is in Honolulu, the other is at the Japanese archway near the lighthouse and the third on the biggest island is just below the walled city. Not sure what their significance could be though.

I think so too, but it does beg the question of Victory Road. There doesn't seem to any sort of dock on it either. I wonder if the top is like a helipad or something and you fight your way down the building to the hotel looking place at the bottom. Although I can't tell if the hotel is meant to be on a floating platform at the top or if it's resting on the water at sea level. The building itself could be Victory Road too I suppose, like a high-tech skyscraper version rather than the more natural locations we've had in the past games.

For the Champion, I want a great one. Good in design, and good in Pokemon selection. Steven Stone is my ideal Champion, and, while I don't expect a Champion in the future to be as good as Steven, I do hope the new Champion is at least good in his own right. I definitely want a male Champion for this Gen, by the way. And I wouldn't mind if Red turns out to be the Champion, if it wasn´t a brand new one.

For the Elite 4, I hope we finally get a well balanced Elite 4. I don´t seem to completely like any of the Elite 4s we have had. I think Johto´s E4 is the closest to my taste that wr´ve had.

And with Gym Leaders, I really like most of the games´8 gym leaders. I basically like all, except the Sinnoh and Kalos ones.

So, generally, I have high expectation for both the Alola Gym Leaders and Champion, but not sure about the E4...

Having found a super high res version of the map, it really does not fit for them to be anything else. I revised my list a bit, and well, I still maintain most of them.
Black Sand Beach Gym and the Gym next to the Black Techno building are the same mostly
The big building at the north end of the cast city
The Big building in the Japanese City
The Water Fountain
Hyatt Waikiki
Golf Course Resort

3 are unique with 4 big buildings, it's a balance of sorts. And it fits if the league is on the floating platform. A League with the Victory Road being the final Hotel Dungeon of sorts with the E4+Champion in their private Villa is one of the cohesive ideas they could do, and it would be surprisingly forward of them to do so. But yeah, only thing I can think of being the last gym I can't pinpoint is the big building in the Starting Town. Maybe Hala is the first Gym Leader, which is why he was not introduced along with Kukui and Lillie? Or hell the last leader, a final test against the person who gave you your first Pokemon.

Either it's reached by a Copter like you said, or it has to do with those blue huts. I think there will be an underwater tunnel system of sorts, perhaps you access the league and Victory Road trough there.

Best candidate for gym leaders for me are fire water ice ground rock electric flying grass just basing it from the map and I'm quite unhappy about another ice type gym

What if they go the Majora's mask route and have less gyms but more in between content.

The first island could consist of you making your way down the island into the city, then going north to the forest to find the gym leader, then exiting to find yourself back at home and then moving back to the city to get badge 1.

On PokeMaui, the gym is the water hotel like thing in the beginning, but the gym leader has been kept hostage by the evil team and you're forced to fight your way through the volcano, then travel to the waterfall area in the north to free him.

Afterwards you travel to the big island where you get the 3rd gym leader to travel back home by visiting the observatory, then making your way across the island, eventuallly getting caught in the plot and head to the uninhabited island where the evil team is defeated. Afterwards the gate to the walled city opens and you can claim badge 4, climb the ice mountain and challenge the league.

Now after all the new information has settled in, I'd like to see the first gym specializing in Flying types and the leader having Pikipeks evolution for Skill Link + Fury Attack/Bullet Seed combination.

Even better if it holds a King's Rock in challenge mode. Prays that challenge mode makes a comeback!

This may have been mentioned here already but personally I'd love to see something like the S.S Anne, except much larger with a gym onboard. In real life cruiseships get pretty huge so it's definitely feasible and would be something different. It would also be a water type gym since that would make most sense.

As a separate idea, would be good to see every single gym as a dual type gym.

Since there's quite a bit of a Rainbow theme going on, maybe the gyms could be:

1. Fire (Red)
2. Fighting (Orange)
3. Electric (Yellow)
4. Grass (Green)
5. Water (Blue)
6. Ghost (Indigo)
7. Poison (Violet)

I'd like for us to finally have a Dark gym, and that can represent a lack of color so I guess it can be the 8th. Or it could be Psychic for gold (since apparently gold is associated with that type just as much as purple) to represent gold at the end of a rainbow. </end rambling>
