So am I crazy or are the gen 5 gyms back? IE there are only two same buildings on all the islands that WOULD be a gym,but little else. I am leaning to the fancy hotels bar the one with a golf course being the gyms this gen. Which is why I can see the victory road being instead that huge floating base thing, the ultimate Hotel.
although, Kalos had three unique gym designs in four cities (Cyllage and Coumarine, Lumiose, and Laverre) and Hoenn had one unique design (Fortree; two if you want to include Mauville) so i don't think that really puts it out of the realm of possibility. i think the big question, gym wise at least, is why is this building, in a region with very few repeated buildings (i can only spot Pokemon Centers and maybe more Slaking Motels), repeated? but then it's only repeated twice? strange. The only problem I have with that speculation is why bother having two regular gym buildings alongside six unique ones? They could make eight unique ones surely?
But you're right in that there's nowhere close to eight. I doubt there is six hidden with the current angle too, so the speculation that other buildings are the gyms seems more legit.

what i'm also really curious about is where the League could be. the only thing that seems to remotely fits the general League trends is that artificial island but that's predicated on an underwater or biosphere-esque Victory Road.
Having found a super high res version of the map, it really does not fit for them to be anything else. I revised my list a bit, and well, I still maintain most of them. The only problem I have with that speculation is why bother having two regular gym buildings alongside six unique ones? Either it's reached by a Copter like you said, or it has to do with those blue huts. I think there will be an underwater tunnel system of sorts, perhaps you access the league and Victory Road trough there.Oh I completely forgot Kalso had a mixture of both, that does make more sense. Maybe these two are the first two gyms and after that they then get their own unique buildings?
And this may be more suited to another thread but there's also a small blue square house with a brown roof repeated once on each island. One is in Honolulu, the other is at the Japanese archway near the lighthouse and the third on the biggest island is just below the walled city. Not sure what their significance could be though.
I think so too, but it does beg the question of Victory Road. There doesn't seem to any sort of dock on it either. I wonder if the top is like a helipad or something and you fight your way down the building to the hotel looking place at the bottom. Although I can't tell if the hotel is meant to be on a floating platform at the top or if it's resting on the water at sea level. The building itself could be Victory Road too I suppose, like a high-tech skyscraper version rather than the more natural locations we've had in the past games.
