Review BW007: Tsutarja - Captured by Mad Love!?

This was a great, if somewhat dull episode IMO :) I don't know about anyone else, but I LOVED the shot at the end of the episode of Ash and his happy Pokemon. It's so KAWAII!!!!!!! Especially Mijumaru and Mamepato! But I wanted Pokabu to be female ^^

So, Grass Oath, eh? I hope Mijumaru and Pokabu pick up theirs down the line and we see the combination attacks.

Also interesting it's another abandoned Pokemon, although it's more stoic and cool about it compared to the helpless Pokabu.

There's certainly a lot of possibilities with the Starters this time, and I hope the writers give each one a fair amount of focus, interaction, and development.

Ash is not going to get rid of his best bird Pokemon Mamepato and Mamepato is turing out to be much better then Taillow and Starly ever was as Ash's past bird's pokemon which both were kinda bland and suck aswell,i'm glad Ash have Tsutarja on his Isshu team she is more like Bulbasaur then Treecko never really was for that matter,Tsutarja will be a very strong Pokemon on Ash's Isshu team.

I liked the episode a lot. Tsutarja was awesome.

It's finally the first episode with Ash, Iris, and Dento travelling as a group and apparently Ash likes Dento's cooking as much as he likes Brock's. I like how the episode focused on Tsutarja and finally gave some screentime to Mamepato. I love the little bird as much as I loved Starly.

Overall, it was very interesting. 9/10

Almost forgot: I love the new animation for gust, it looks deadly. Not so much with Air Cutter and Air Slash, though.

...wait, people actually thought Mijumaru was a girl? How many of you actually watch anime outside of Pokemon? You don't often have arrogant but cowardly butt monkeys as girls.

Anyway, I really like the dynamics between Dento, Iris and Ash so far. They're such a cute trio. Tsutarja has always been my favourite starter, so it makes me really happy to see this one is a girl. Though on the whole, the episode wasn't that great. Maybe it's because I knew Ash would get Tsutarja but it wasn't a very entertaining episode. Fairly typical for a capture episode and unlike the Gible episodes, there was no entertaining art to make up for it. But yay for Mamepato kicking ass! It's nice to have a long-ranged attacker as a flying type for once to differentiate her from Swellow's and Staraptor's battle style.

About time they let Mamepato exist again. Good to see her get to take down Tsutarja as well. Every time I saw it scouting for Tsu, I kept asking why Ash wasn't using her due to the advantage he would have. But then again, type advantage has never really been Ash's style.

Not much else to say really. It was a really straight forward capture episode, and we got to see Dento and Iris play the role of housekeeper. I guess they'll be splitting up duties as they play team mom together?

Well, it was a cute episode I'm really enjoying this trio they have great chemistry. So what if Dento can cook people, tons of people can cook not just Brock. Ash catching Tsutarja was no surprise, why people kept denying it was beyond me, than again people just like denying till the episode airs so. Any who, cute episode, another Pokemon with great personality. I was shocked that Mijamaru was male with how he acted with Ash and all, I've never seen a male Pokemon get jealous like that before.

Dunno how any of you doubted this paragon of manliness.

And you people said the Grass starter was the smug one.

I enjoyed the episode very much. It's a pleasure seeing Ash with all 3 starters, especially with that pose at the end of the episode. I really loved the plot of this episode as well, and also how bad Iris and Dento wanted Ash to achieve his goal to capture Tsutarja.

I also appreciated the fact that the genders were revealed, and Jessie tried to capture it earlier as well. I really love Team Rocket, especially when Jessie got Meowth to fight, without violence. TR is there for business.

Off topic: As boring as some may find TR, I have to disagree and say it is a nice change. We spent so many years seeing them not make any progress except with Jessie and her contests and minor other things, but as a fan I want to see them rock n roll. I never thought of TR as evil, and I actual want them all to achieve their dream one day, individually and be happy. I love this new route, they are too badass, and it is very refreshing!!!

Awesome episode, preview looked hilarious. LOL, at Kibago thinking Pikachu did it.

Well this was a lot better than Turtwig's capture ep back in DP. This was pretty good compared to how boring the last capture ep for a grass starter was.

Not much else to say really. TR do need to stop appearing in every episode now if they aren't going to be comic relief anymore.

Well this episode was an interesting one certaintly. I did'nt get a chance to really watch this episode only, I really only remember the good parts. This ep airing right after ''For the Love of Meowth'' aired in the U.S. is cute. Any who about the episode. This reminded meof Chikorita's capture, Chikorita had a move called ''Sweet Scent'' which made her opponents dizzy or drunk sort of, it took down both Charizard and Bulbasaur and had a feisty attitude acting like a little girl, it gave Bulba-chan the whip of a life time. Tsutaruja however seems more like a teenage girl looking for trouble. Making it's opponents drunk or dizzy with love, then Vine Whipping them like they were circus animals. I liked how fluently it's body moved when it used Vine Whip, fantastic animation. But, did anybody notice the crap drawing/animation at some scenes? It's funny the battle of the sexes was only solved when a heroin(Mamepato) came. I liked the new eyecatchs the Dento frolicking could've been something else but, beggers can't be choosers. The sheer amount of love made me love this episode. Let's see from the limited amount of Japanese I know, and I could be wrong, ''Hato'' is engrish for ''Heart''. MamePATO's ''Pato'' ryhmes with, ''Hato''(Heart), of course this could be looking to deep for a reference but, the heart marking on it's body is making me think other wise. Koromori battling would've been fun with it's heart marking to. Mame-Chan kicked butt and took no prisons, kinda reminds you of Pigeotto. The animation for Air Cutter and Gust was nice. Mame-Chan's wings too. I liked how it stuck out it's legs when avoiding Grass Oath. I'm glad it got a good battle in. Next the genders, I had no doubt Pokabu, Pika, and Miju were boys. But, Mame being female took me by suprise. Nice job 8.9/10!

Technically Best Wishes hasn't had a filler yet.

This worked last time, so I'll say it again.
Warning in advance: potentially idiotic-sounding review (sorta) ahead. No one's making you read any further.

I gotta say, this is one of the better episodes this show's had in a while. While most Pokémon come to Ash (Mijumaru the stalker), this time he actually goes hunting for it. And among Ash's new Pokémon, Tsutāja's the coolest yet (I still like Mijumaru's antics). I can't wait to see how Ash plans on using Attract to his advantage (Maybe his next fight with Shooty)

We also got everyone's genders too. No surprise about Mijumaru and Pokabu (7/8 of all starters are male). What is a surprise is that Mamepato actually got to do something, made even more surprising that it was something useful.

Unsurprisingly, Dento's the new cook for the team (he is a sommelier after all), and Iris and Kibago still do nothing.

TR still did nothing. I think if the writers are going to do that to their character, perhaps it'd be easier to simply write them out of some later episodes. But that's just me.

In all, not much happened but it was still an entertaining episode, and I'd like to see more catches like this one (but with Dento next time)

This ep really made it clear how Dento/Iris will be, most likely for most of BW.

It really is disappointing that Iris isn't getting any real screentime so far. The novelty of her character is wearing off, she needs to do something memorable to keep interest.

Does anybody know what the music was at the beginning of the episode? I've been searching for that for a while now. Sounds really nostalgic.

Yay. Dento can cook. Guess the writers decided not to drop that at all. I guess this episode was better than Turtwig's capture, perhaps even as good as Treecko's. And wow, seven episodes in, and we already know the genders of all of Ash's Pokes so far.

I agree, she really needs to start doing something outside of climbing trees.

I think the absence of a quest for her was a mistake on the writers part.

At this point I just want to actually see her battle, I don't care about anything else.

Misty already had two or so battles by this point in Kanto. Iris hasn't at all.
